Is there a rule (of any kind) with both a (4,3)c/10 and c/2 spaceship?
weird

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 12, rule = R4,C2,S2-3,B3,N@000000038181c0000005

Here is a rule explode in all symmetries but D2_+1 and D2_+2:

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 85, rule = B2ce3ey4ejw/S1e2e3e

Do any rules have small explosive growth patterns that are so rare naturally that soups almost never explode?
Do 2D Replicators always mean a rule is explosive?
Are there any rules where replicators can burn as a fuse?

edit:
How are any symmetries in dry life searchable when even small asymmetric patterns can explode?

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 11, rule = B37/S23

Which boils down to:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 13, rule = B2ci3ac45n78/S02i3ak678

Nearly always if the rep is small.
How are any symmetries in dry life searchable when even small asymmetric patterns can explode?
None, I think. A soup on a bounded grid is searchable, though.

How are there official censuses on catalog then?
Is it a mistake?

B37/S23 is mildly explosive. This means that for 16×16, which is quite small, it counts anything that doesn't explode, but the soups that do explode are ignored and take up a lot of processing time.

For all I know nobody figured it out yet.
I do know if you break the symmetry it stops being explosive.

Not sure if this goes here, but how are demonoids using orthogonal spaceships as signals for single-channel usually constructed (both Life and engineered OCA)? I plan on constructing one for hc0_Univ (following the orthogonoid) but I still don’t really have a blueprint.

It should be possible.
I can't find anything but p2 oscillators.
All patterns I have tried either die or become p2.
Are there any other periods know in B345678/S?
Is there someway to prove every pattern in this rule is p2?

B368/S245 gets called Morley for the investigations Stephen Morley did on it. Is there any surviving record of what he actually discovered beyond the few patterns in Golly? The page safalra.com is referenced in a couple places but gives a 410 Gone error, and is excluded from the archive.org wayback machine, so it would depend on some being saved somewhere else.
