By sylvie: A quadratic replicator with edge rule=core rule=range 3/2 W4124:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 1, rule = B2-ek4c/S

Adding B5k yields some wicks upon certain annihilations.

Range 3/2 W4124.

Seriously, we need to name W4124 now.

I believe its W5192296859743753448426600480702704 aka W(2^4 + 2^5+2^6+2^7+2^16+2^48+2^80+ 2^112) aka W18 except range 3. A cell is born iff the current cell is dead, the cell to the left or right is on, and the other side is empty.

Ah, I think I see what I missed. The rule I described is effectively the same as W4124, except I wasn't familiar with how range 3/2 rules worked, so I found a range 3 rule that emulates W4124, and produces the same graph.

Funnily enough, the wiki page does just that too.

Currently working to improve Life's guns and work on updating SKOPs and Isotropic rules most similar to B3/S23 to Life standards. Will get software to begin searches eventually.

It's still interesting and it didn't say they can't have broken debris

I don't see why not, there are tons of failed or partial replication reactions here, in addition to clean ones.

Sylvie found an interesting failedrep rulespace

Here is a (18,6)c/254 SMOFRMOFR based on it (Spaceship made of failed replicators that are made of failed replicators)

There are some decently high period ships in the space. The highest known is this 22c/15800o

I already did some searches based of off this rule before, but when coming back to it recently I realized that by being more specific with the pattern you use you can increase the rulespace from 2^37 to 2^47

Currently working to improve Life's guns and work on updating SKOPs and Isotropic rules most similar to B3/S23 to Life standards. Will get software to begin searches eventually.

A very chaotic and delicate replicator

Code: Select all

x = 179, y = 9, rule = B2-an3acejk4ajkz5iy6eik/S1c2-ae3eknr4ejkrt5cr7c

Almost, this one turns into a puffer.
