PhotonsAdjustables

Post by islptng »

I encountered this rule while golfing ruletables randomly. I like its dynamics, so I decided to post it.
In this rule, soups can last very long, which has an interesting behaviour.

Code: Select all

#R PhotonsAdjustables
! [[ RANDOMIZE RANDWIDTH 216 RANDHEIGHT 216 ]]
Here's some adjustable ship maker, we probably need something that destroys an adjustable ship:

Code: Select all

x = 34, y = 77, rule = PhotonsAdjustables
25.2C2$25.A$25.B6$8.C12.C$8.C3.BA7.2C2$22.C$25.2C$C12.C11.C$C2.BA8.2C
3$10.C.C$9.2C8$19.2C8.BA2.C$10.A9.C12.C$10.B3$9.2C13$23.C$16.C.C$23.C
$9.C.C2$5.C.C$12.C3$9.C.C5$11.C.C$19.C$9.C$6.C7.C7.C$16.C.C$6.C15.C6.
C.C3$25.C$11.C.C$25.C4.C2$30.C4$7.2C4.AB9.C$8.C15.C!
Since all of the logic gates have been found, this rule is no doubt Turing-Complete.
Goals (probably will never be achieved, but i just want to put them here):
Construction arm -> Linear propagator -> Geminoid
Unary register -> Minsky machine

EDIT by dvgrn: moving initial post (editable by islptng) to the top of this thread.
The post below is the original first post by @1and0nlycordershippr. Yes, at first the thread isn't mine.

Since the basic splitter as well as its capped reflector version both have a RT of 4, all oscillator and gun periods ≥4 can be proven to exist. I haven't found any p2s or p3s, but islptng might've intentionally added them to the rule. In that case, this rule is omniperiodic.

I won't make any change to the rule, because I just encountered this rule while adding transitions randomly in the ruletable, and was attracted by its dynamics, so I stopped and posted that.

Combine with this mechanism (to place the arm dot):

Code: Select all

We can now make a constructor!

I'd like to note, the mechanism behind the adjustable ships is the exact mechanism that powers adjustable slope ships, so there are infinitely many speeds and slopes in this rule. Diagonal/oblique gun when?

I've never built one of those, so I don't know how to adjust them, but here's a 2c/20d:

In this rule, soups can last very long, which has an interesting behaviour.

Code: Select all

#R PhotonsAdjustables
! [[ RANDOMIZE RANDWIDTH 216 RANDHEIGHT 216 ]]
Here's some adjustable ship maker, we probably need something that destroys an adjustable ship:

Code: Select all

x = 34, y = 77, rule = PhotonsAdjustables

Since all of the logic gates have been found, this rule is no doubt Turing-Complete.
Goals (probably will never be achieved, but i just want to put them here):
Construction arm -> Linear propagator -> Geminoid
Unary register -> Minsky machine

EDIT by dvgrn: moving initial post (editable by islptng) to the top of this thread.
The post below is the original first post by @1and0nlycordershippr. Yes, at first the thread isn't mine.
Can you give me the ruletable?

Any RuleLoader rule that automatically works in LV without a rule table can be found in the List of rule tables on LifeWiki
.
The actual rule is here: https://conwaylife.com/wiki/Rule:PhotonsAdjustables

Code: Select all

#C [[ THEME Golly ]]
x = 27, y = 15, rule = LifeHistory
