Re: Miscellaneous LifeWiki Discussion
I mixed up right and left :/
You had a vertical bar on the left side with main links, "what links here", etc - now it's gone
I guess it's part of updating to ugly "modern" wiki : (
any chance of returning it back?

Re: Miscellaneous LifeWiki Discussion
Unfortunately it looks like there's less I can do than you might expect. I have made a change to try to force the left navigation menu to stay stuck to the left, but it's only partially supported.
There are two collapsible navigation menus that now seem to be collapsed by default. At the top-left of the wiki, there is a three-line button. Clicking it opens up the left navigation bar (containing Recent changes and other related links). There is a button in that menu to pin it to the left side of the wiki. Near the top-right of the wiki is a "Tools" menu that can similarly be pinned, but as far as I can tell it can only be pinned on the right side rather than the left, which is... well, I don't personally like it.
Will dig some more.

Whenever I search something and it automatically redirects to a page, this notice pops up at the top:
Could you also bring back the LifeWiki logo? It's nowhere to be seen in the main page.
I have no idea what it means, but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong happening visually, as far as I can tell.LifeWiki wrote:Notice: Unexpected clearActionName after getActionName already called in /home/njohnsto/conwaylife/w/includes/context/RequestContext.php on line 318

Is this fixed now? I can't reproduce it. If it's still happening, let me know a specific search term that is bringing up this message.I6_I6 wrote: June 5th, 2026, 4:25 pm Whenever I search something and it automatically redirects to a page, this notice pops up at the top:I have no idea what it means, but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong happening visually, as far as I can tell.LifeWiki wrote:Notice: Unexpected clearActionName after getActionName already called in /home/njohnsto/conwaylife/w/includes/context/RequestContext.php on line 318
Logo is back now, but due to MediaWiki's changes it looks different than it used to.
Edit: Success! Back to looking the way it used to!
Re: Miscellaneous LifeWiki Discussion
Wiki main page has a couple redlink categories - "Pages using DynamicPageList4" and "Pages using DynamicPageList4 parser function"

Looking at the revision history of the Gemini article, B468S02357 changed the simplified speed in the infobox from (2560,512)c/16849793 to (5,1)c/32909.8. HotdogPi promptly changed it back with the comment "partial undo: 32909.8 is not an integer".
Speeds and simplified speeds only use integers for displacement and the denominator by convention. Otherwise, the reader would have to calculate the integer simplified speed by themselves, which is extra work, and the slope also is in the infobox anyway.

Re: Miscellaneous LifeWiki Discussion
while I'm totally against "dividing numerator and denominator" even by gcd (since denominator is also used to show period), this kinda makes me wonder if there's a better notation to make slope more visible?

Should we put [[Category:Isotropic non-totalistic rules]] on User: namespace pages? It seems like most of the pages are OCA namespaced with one exception. I will put [[Category:NNlk05's Rules]] in the meantime.

Re: Miscellaneous LifeWiki Discussion
So in case you were wondering, the Whopper Rule is:
123aqy5ace/2-a3ay/4|1e234j/3-i5ace6k/4
The augmented version is just in a 61-by-62 torus
A notable thing is that the "beehive" shape expands and forms two "lines" in two directions, there are some variants that form the two lines in only one direction
I am officially calling the expanding shape the Parallellinator, and the two-direction version the Double Parallellinator
(You can change the names at any time, but I named them that because I have humorous naming conventions)
