... for 0e0p metacell I prefere to have working oggca as early as possible ... which could delete debrie in the spare time, so slowing down the build of oggca does not help me, but of course it could help in other projects where there is no spare time.
I have added to my local version of ongoing.py arguments usefull for finishing partials ... required-prefix ... to filter output not containing info with given prefix, ... required ... to filter output not containing given exact infos (I have hardcodded required, but parsing the argument is the next step), ... ignored ... (to filter temporary simkin glider depending on simulate-gens).
The required and ignored are not reported in the output ... (info matching required-prefix (which is empty by default) is).

I've been working on the tooling for oncoming glider gun construction, and there are some promising directions for more efficient construction.

This is the standard toolkit that we've been using. Testing on a 503 glider slow salvo recipe, it achieves gliders = 1572, duration = 200259, or 3.1 fast gliders and 400 gens per slow glider. - sc35b3p46 toolkit
With glider stream mergers based on the suppressed Scorbie splitter, you can insert a glider in front at 35 gens, or behind at 67 gens. If you line up a few in a row, you can allocate the gliders and send recipes with several minimum distance 35 gliders in a row. Testing on a 503 glider slow salvo recipe, it achieved gliders = 1801, duration = 103062 -- that's 3.6 fast gliders and 200 gens per slow glider. (You can also get similar results with sc43b3p46)
Sample of the arm running:I also ran a search for 5 glider recipes with values [(1,2,3,5,6,7), 35-128, 35-128, 35-128, 67-128], and saved a database of all results which had a population of less than 32. The search space with low repeat times is very rich -- there are 80 million recipes. It includes, e.g., a clean recipe for every block lane +-40 from the recipe lane, and partials with extra debris around +-70. Even rarer objects like eaters exist at many offsets and orientations.Code: Select all

At sc90, which might be a good balance because the circuitry is much simpler, the costs for different gliders are uneven -- 90 gens for the good parities, 416 and 501 for the others, but the script will replace gliders with cheaper options when possible. The bad recipes are worse than standard p120 recipes -- it's more difficult to find recipes for tandem gliders because you need to consume a whole number of pairs, and many recipes allow a glider of the pair to escape.
With sc90 recipes, on the 503 glider slow salvo recipe it achieved: gliders = 964, duration = 122865. That's 1.9 fast gliders and 240 gens per slow glider.

Nice work.
I would probably not be able to use it in 0e0p metacell project. The main problem of it is to maintaining the stream and use it on 8 ouptut paths
(with a constraint of 2^D long loop) ... so going under sc90 would be extremally difficult.
I am actually not that much limited by the ouptut glider frequency (actually I have to add waits occassionally as the arm often makes faster then "slow salvo gliders"), but rather by the glider lane distances.
For the glider pair OGGCA, I am aware how the long pushes would be efficient.
(With much faster "slow gliders" the agnosticize "marking minimal required distance" in the input files will be required.
As was mentioned the emission times vary a lot so we would probably require glider DAG (rather to glider "PATH") (still considering the same path of configurations after each slow glider reaction stabilises) recipes to get good enough performance.
When the recipe describes DAG would become complicated to encode (consider current b1997|b1998|b1999|b2000|b2001|b2002 b2006|b2007|b2008|b2009|b2010|b2011 glider pair in the recipe ... this probably corresponds to destroying two unwanted blocks ... so there are 36 edges in the DAG for this step in the recipe ... if exact lower bounds of glider phase distances should be presented ... of course in this case the salvo would be rather fast, we can define minimal OGGCA glider distance and report constraints only for slower pairs ... .)
So there is definitely much bigger cost of building the OGGCA, there will be equally cheap pulls and more efficient emissions, but the pushes would probably be much worse ... you would probably need to build anchors much more often ...
I do not think it would be used in smaller projects as well considering the OGCCA build costs should be compensated by much longer recipe it is used for. I can imagine faster OGGCA gun expecting faster input recipe in (silver) demenoid like ships where you mix several portions of one glider stream together.
Cheap gun would be helpfull (p60 Gosper with frequency halving?).
