Yes, it is known and can be found in some dependent glider loops.
Here it is on its own:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 23, rule = LifeHistory
3.A2.E$5.E.E$5.E.E$6.E11$10.2A$10.2A4$2.2A$3.A$3A$A!
Most ways of deleting the junk would probably dramatically reduce the spark's input clearance. (The MES might still manage it.)
I'm guessing this is the dependent reflector loop Anivec mentioned:

Code: Select all

this seems to turn a V spark to block and 2 V sparks (look at the table stabilized by block) and next to turn V sparks to blocks

You should just add block to snake and block+barge to long boat

Welcome to the forums! I don't know how this could be useful, but I've been wrong before. People on this thread usually like it when a spark is applied to a still life, and becomes chaotic for some time, before being catalyzed by other stuff such as blocks, eaters, and boats, and then releases a moving output such as a glider or a herschel and the still life is reformed back where it was so the conduit can be used again.
Helloshe, I like pentadecathlons and small-period motifs.
I may not be very skilled in search programs, but I have many ideas.
Soli Deo Gloria!

Yup -- the above is a perfectly valid one-time spark splitter.

It's not a conduit, because it can't be re-used. Lots of one-time "spark turners" and "spark splitters" definitely exist, but there are so many that it's probably beyond anyone's ability to build a reasonable collection of them.

Re: The Hunting of the Spark Conduits

I need a conduit that will delete the block and give me an output, but also add the red beehive in the marked spot.

In what context do you want the conduit? Also, where did you get the above reaction? It looks like a random reaction that puts out a beehive and a block, so is not very informative.
Currently working to improve Life's guns and work on updating SKOPs and Isotropic rules most similar to B3/S23 to Life standards. Will get software to begin searches eventually.

The reaction:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 12, rule = LifeHistory
8.2A$7.A2.A$4.2A3.A$5.4A$6.A3$.E3.3AB3A$E.E2.A5BA$E.E2.A5BA$.E4.A3BA$
7.3A!
I would like an output from the bottom. I have tried putting boats and beehives, and it gave some explosive results. Unfortunately, I couldn't figure anything out from the spark on the right.

Edit: Here's an example.

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 21, rule = LifeHistory
8.2A$7.A2.A$4.2A3.A$5.4A$6.A3$.E3.3AB3A$E.E2.A5BA$E.E2.A5BA$.E4.A3BA$

I had the idea of "drifty spark conduits". Basically, search for drifty catalysts which can take a spark/active region as an input and output a spark. These could be used to make signal loops, attached to sparkers to increase their clearance or change the spark type. The only example I know of is the pipsquirter catalyst; can we find more?

Code: Select all

#C [[ THEME Golly ]]
x = 27, y = 15, rule = LifeHistory

Furthermore, if you can find ways to put in and make gliders ("drifter synthesis"?), you could get stable reflectors and splitters with very low repeat time...

Edit: Fix typo
I manage the 5S project, which collects all known spaceship speeds in certain rulespaces.

I suspect their rarity will be a problem.
I think it is better to put more research into "spark -> glider -> spark" route.
With more and more optimizations it will eventually converge into something similar to what you describe.

I had a look at the MES and found these two potential baits (producing a HF and century), if anyone wants to run catalyst searches on them:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 23, rule = B3/S23

Also, stupid blinker factory:

Code: Select all

x = 34, y = 25, rule = B3/S23
