There is another reasonably small and quick G-to-H converter with the same input glider lane. This converter delivers the output Herschel 48 ticks earlier, so the p653 gun I posted earlier will become a p605 gun if the G-to-H is replaced.

To assemble the converter, it suffices to connect the 8-lane stable glider shifter to the Speed Tunnel.
(Curiously, in both posts, the discoverers expressed doubt about usefulness of the devices. Maybe connecting the two components together is one of those "very niche uses"?)

The beehive is regenerated even if the other still life isn't technically a pond, it also works with a bipond. This might be used to create a reflector or a G-to-X.

EDIT by dvgrn, for the usual reason that interesting patterns with no labels are just horribly difficult to find a year later:

Paleo-Spartan near miss, an almost-3x-pulse-divider: input is a G1|-1 triplet, output is a perpendicular glider the same color as the middle glider.

There are many known H-to-2G converters, but how about a Spartan G-to-2H that seems interesting enough to post?

A F166 conduit is used, to connect Thessalonic G-to-H [1] to the new Spartan Lx65&R64 (with output Herschels routed into two more instances of F166).

I think it can handle input gliders separated by 115 ticks.

Nice find!

I suppose the optional extra 3fd of clearance on the southwest side doesn't really matter, since NE or SW gliders can't make it past the block catalyst anyway if they're that close. But here's a LifeHistory pattern showing the location of the big catalyst in the previous high-clearance G-to-block.

EDIT by dvgrn: It's a color-changing reflector, 26hd separation between opposing lanes I believe; only 11 neo-Spartan catalysts, just one more catalyst than the old boojum reflector had, so it's just about equally glider-constructible. But this new reflector is much more useful, because unlike in the boojum reflector, the lanes are plenty far enough apart to allow inputs and outputs to be guided in and out by Snarks from a safe distance.

Repeat time is 141, though it looks like it ought to be higher; it's a period doubler at p138 and p140.

A partial color changing reflector. The sacrificial boat here has to be replaced with either a permanent catalyst or a transparent object restored by other catalysts for the reflector to work. This would act as a stable version of a bouncer. If completed, the reflector would have a repeat time of 47. It is fairly simple, so it might be already known.

It seems plausible, though: if solved, it'd clearly be useful (small and low repeat time), and there's plenty of stuff that puts active junk in the right area. Such "near-misses" should be taken with a grain of salt. There's hundreds of ways to come close, but only one way to actually restore the bait. But still, highest quality partial I've seen for a color-changing reflector in a long while.

And regarding the quality, the original Snark parcel edgeshoots a LoM which is turned into the block by a 31.4. So try to look for active region edgeshootibg ones.

The problem is that the glider does not form early enough for the fishhook to be pushed 2fd inwards.
If a semi-snark or similar pattern is found to work, it may also be able to extract a glider from these types of catalyses where the boat faces the wrong way:

There is a scorbie spliter in there. so for a cost of repeat time of 7, you can get 1 extra glider out, not to mention there is the natural glider of that hershel of course.

Going back to the partial I am pretty sure that there is a reflector called the boojum reflector that makes the glider go back to the same spot there is a problem that It wont work because it is not in the same state as started as but you could place the boat bit in a different orientation than regular. It might pair up nicely though I don't really know how to put RLE codes in here or the placement of the boojum reflector and boat bit so maybe someone else could do that
