Welcome to the forums! :D
If you put RLE into pattern tags or code tags, other people can open it in LifeViewer and investigate it themselves.
To do this, press the '</>' button or 'pattern' button above the post edit box.
Here's the spaceship you were describing:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 3, rule = B27/S36
o2bo2$b2o!
Here's another (same stats):

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 3, rule = B27/S36
3bo$o$b2o!
And another (this one is called the moon in related rules):

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 2, rule = B27/S36
o2bo$b2o!
This rule is very explosive (mostly because of B2). It would be very hard to find natural patterns in this.
Also, those spaceships exist in lots and lots of rules. (The first from B2ak/S to B23-q45678/S1c2345678, the second from B2aek/S to B23-jq45678/S2-k345678.)

Is it though? Personally I don't think a single sparky oscillator warrants declaring a rule notable, especially if it really does nothing helpful due to the volatility of the rule (which in this super explosive rule I think is very likely)

Things I think would promote notability

A plethora of spaceships of different speeds, natural or engineered
Some rule emulation or unique wire capabilites
Some unique function (construction capabilities, universal computation abilities, etc.)

Also not a notable rule either for all reasons listed before

(Five absurdly large LifeViewers)
Enclose all patterns within "pattern" tags. "LV" tags should only be used in extremely rare cases, primarily when the topic of the post is an animation displayed by LifeViewer waypoint commands included in the RLE comments. In those rare cases when using "LV" tags, the [[ THUMBNAIL ]] command should be used to reduce the amount of vertical space taken up by the viewer. Also, this is an academic forum, not a chat or microblogging platform. Please spend some time doing some research to familiarize yourself with what is and isn't already known about the Game of Life before posting your discoveries. Also, why is there "!!1!!" in your post??/??

Again, please use pattern tags

Also note that rules without B0, B1, B2, or B3 will have minimal activity (the cannot grow past their bounding boxes/diamonds) and aren't interesting for most CA-related purposes.

Lastly, the names you apply don't refer to what you show above. Please spend some time reviewing the wiki and the forums to gain an understanding of what Life and CA terms/rules/projects are of interest and of note.

The still lifes are from B7/S236 not B27/S36, which doesn't actually have any. It doesn't look much different from B2/S3. That includes the simple p8 mentioned above and a series of domino tracks, which are xor oscillators so can be made for all even periods:

Code: Select all

# B2(678)/S3(45678) - closed ends decreasing length by 1
x=40, y=10, rule=B27/S36
3bo11bo$2bo4bo2bo4b2o6bo5bo2bo5bo$bob12o7b2o4b6o4b2o$4bo8bo10b4o6b4o$2o4bo17bo2bobo4bo2bo$6bo9b2o6bo2bobo4bo2bo$4bo8bo
10b4o6b4o$3b12obo5b2o4b6o4b2o$b2o4bo2bo4bo7bo5bo2bo5bo$2bo11bo!
For odd periods there are these p3s from LaundryPizza03, the first of which works in B2/S3 and the second needing S6:

Code: Select all

x=61, y=15, rule=B27/S36

I agree with the similarity assessment, which also provides a case against notability if this variant doesn't do anything notable compared to it's near relatives. Can this thread therefore be merged?

It seems like the entire point of this thread is a BFDI joke. There's no other reason why the OP would write it as B27/S63 rather than B27/S36. This rule is not notable.

I don't even know what is BFDI, and I doubt that the OP knows what is even BFDI.

I think merging, deleting, or moving this thread to the sandbox is probably a good idea since it is therefore a joke thread and not serious CGOL discussion.
