20 cells 9x9 71 gen, probably semi-significant

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 9, rule = B3/S23

22 cells 9x8 68 gen:

Code: Select all

Can't trust someone who misspells typset as typeset.

Re: Thread for small diehards

Post by Pyry Virtanen »

I decided to post an updated list of the longest-lasting known diehards with low cell counts, namely 1 - 17 and 20. There hasn't been much progress on this subject lately, and the older list in the first post of this thread is outdated. Again, there is a restriction that each pattern on the list must fit into a 2N x 2N bounding box, where N is its population.

Most of the entries are the same as in the earlier list, except the ones for 8, 12, 14, 17 and 20 cells. Note, that I have changed the orientation of some of the patterns and made some minor modifications that don't affect the patterns' lifespans or cell counts. All of the patterns in this post are already known, but they were scattered across multiple different posts. That's why I'm posting this list.
