"Predator" Rule

Post by Saka »

Hi,
I made a a new rule table:

Code: Select all

@RULE Predator
@TABLE
n_states:5
neighborhood:vonNeumann
symmetries:rotate4reflect
var a={0,1,2,3,4}
var b={0,1,2,3,4}
var c={0,1,2,3,4}
var d={0,1,2,3,4}
var a1={1,2}
var b1={1,2}
var c1={1,2}
0,1,1,1,1,3
1,0,0,0,0,2
2,3,a,b,c,1
2,1,1,1,a,3
2,a,b,c,d,0
0,a1,b1,c1,0,1
0,a1,b1,0,0,1
0,1,0,0,0,4
4,1,0,0,0,1
4,a,b,c,d,0
1,1,0,0,0,2
1,1,1,1,1,2
1,1,1,1,0,2
1,3,a,b,c,0
3,a,b,c,d,0
I made this thread to see what my rule has. Things found so far:
C/4 orthogonal glider:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 5, rule = Predator
.3A$DACA2$DACA$.3A!
C/10 Diagonal glider:

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 6, rule = Predator
DB3.A$.ABA$.D3A$2.2AB$3.DAB$5.D!
Messy "puffer"

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 4, rule = Predator
AD$.A$2.AD$3.A!
p4 oscillator puffer

Code: Select all

x = 36, y = 36, rule = Predator
2.DA$2.A$DA$A3.A.2AD$3.A2.2A2D.D$12.A$3.2A2.2AB.A$3.2A.AC2AC7.2D$3.2D
.3ACA4.B2.2A$4.D.BACA6.DA$7.CA.A3.DB$4.D.A4.A$5.A7.D2A.A$12.D2AC3A$
10.D.2AB3A$8.B.B.AC2A.2D$9.D3.2A.3AD2A$9.A2.3ADA3.2A$7.DA4.A.DA.A$7.D
A7.D2.2AB2A$16.2A.ABACA$16.2A.BAC2A$19.ACABA$19.5A8.A.D$31.2A2BD$30.D
BABA$31.D.D2$32.DA$31.2ACA$25.D4.2ABA$24.ABD2.4AD$23.3A2.DABA$24.2BD.
ACAD$23.DBA3.A$24.D!
A fuse/wick:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 8, rule = Predator
.10AD7$D10AD!
And a bunch of oscillators.
SO:
Are there other things in this rule?

I assume that your rule has some real-life analogy behind it, right? Could you reveal it?

Anyway, I have an interesting pattern:

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 16, rule = Predator
4.A$3.2A$3.C3A$A3.CA$DA$2.A$2.DA3$13.A$12.2A$12.C3A$9.A3.CA$9.DA$11.A
$11.DA!
There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don't.

$11.DA!
Yes, I made this rule based on nature, there are animals that take time to die, but can produce offspring, then there are predators, the original rule had to much predators, so I modified the rule and that's how it came to be.

I like this rule. Here's a small pattern that produces some interesting objects:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 4, rule = Predator
3.A$2.A$.A$A!
It's the smallest pattern to explode, I think.

A glider symmetric, p8 variant of the c/4 glider:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 5, rule = Predator
.D$ABD.D$2A.2A$3.2A$A!
A collision that produces chaos that produces 2 c/10 ships shortly after:

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 9, rule = Predator
12.D2A$13.2A2$13.2A$2AD9.D2A$2A2$2A$2AD!
A synthesis for a selection of oscillators:

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 8, rule = Predator
12.D2A$13.2A2$2AD10.2A$2A10.D2A2$2A$2AD!
Nothing:

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 7, rule = Predator
12.D2A$13.2A$2AD$2A11.2A$12.D2A$2A$2AD!

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 5, rule = Predator
2AD9.D2A$2A11.2A2$2A11.2A$2AD9.D2A!
2 p4s:

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 6, rule = Predator

Looks like there's a lot of puffers in this rule, here is one that produces some rare oscillators:

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 15, rule = Predator
10.A$9.3AD$10.ABAD$11.ABA$10.A.3A$5.A.A.A3.A$4.A.A.A$4.2A.A.A$4.3A.A$
4.4A.A$.A.A.4A$2A.BA2$AB.2A$2A.A!
Zig zag thing:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 6, rule = Predator
4.A$2.D3A$.DABABA$.3A.2A$3A.A.A$.A3.2A!
The two smallest oscillators:
p4:

Code: Select all

x = 2, y = 2, rule = Predator
.A$A!
(sparky) p14:

Code: Select all

x = 2, y = 1, rule = Predator
DA!
The only Methuselah, life span 256:

Code: Select all

x = 10, y = 10, rule = Predator
9.A$8.A$7.A$6.A$5.A$4.A$3.A$2.A$.A$A!
EDIT:
Just to let you know, when I say "scrubber" I mean this extendable oscillator:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 7, rule = Predator
6.D$5.AD$.D3.AD$AD3.AD$AD3.AD$5.AD$5.AD!
And, two or one scrubbers can be used to stabilize one end of the wick:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 10, rule = Predator
AD.DA$ADADA$.DAD$2.A$2.A$2.A$2.A$.DA$ADA$AD!

I added colors, to add them put this at the end of the rule file:

Code: Select all

@COLORS
0 48 48 48   dark gray
1 255 97 3   tan-ish color
2 205 190 112   darker skin-ish color
3 205 55 0   orange-red-ish
4 48 128 20   sap green
or if you're lazy:

Code: Select all

@RULE Predator
@TABLE
n_states:5
neighborhood:vonNeumann
symmetries:rotate4reflect
var a={0,1,2,3,4}
var b={0,1,2,3,4}
var c={0,1,2,3,4}
var d={0,1,2,3,4}
var a1={1,2}
var b1={1,2}
var c1={1,2}
0,1,1,1,1,3
1,0,0,0,0,2
2,3,a,b,c,1
2,1,1,1,a,3
2,a,b,c,d,0
0,a1,b1,c1,0,1
0,a1,b1,0,0,1
0,1,0,0,0,4
4,1,0,0,0,1
4,a,b,c,d,0
1,1,0,0,0,2
1,1,1,1,1,2
1,1,1,1,0,2
1,3,a,b,c,0
3,a,b,c,d,0

@COLORS
0 48 48 48   dark gray
1 255 97 3   tan-ish color
2 205 190 112   darker skin-ish color
3 205 55 0   orange-red-ish
4 48 128 20   sap green
If anybody has better colors please tell me the colors!
Oblique wick:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 7, rule = Predator

I'm not sure what to use the R-Pentominoes for, but here is a statement:
I think there are more spaceships in this rule but they are to slow to outrun the chaos they come from
I wish there was a search program of some kind...
EDIT:
I found a two glider synthesis of a duoplet:

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 18, rule = Predator
.A$4.2A$.2A.2A$.ABD.D$2.D9$.D$ABD.D$2A.2A$3.2A$A!

I'll make a list of two-Glider collisions. I expect most will die out, explode, or make duoplets. Oh well.
