Accidental temporary very long ship:

Code: Select all

4c/24 diagonal reaction (or c/6 diagonal, although no puffers or rakes have been built of that speed):

Code: Select all

x = 21, y = 21, rule = B3/S23
19bo$13b2o3b2o$7b3o3b2o2bo2bo$7bobo8b2o$7b3o9bo3$2b3o$2bobo$2b3o4$b2o$

[[ STOP 24 ]]
EDIT: A 4c/25 reaction using the same two traffic light boat-ties predecessor as the reaction above:

Also acts as a c/65 reaction if that is easier to work with:

In case you are wondering, it arises from this reaction between two procrastinators and two beehives at gen 146:

Code: Select all

Well... that can't be the case, since blockic universal constructions exist.

I don't know if a blockic universal constructor that rebuilds itself when hit by a glider has actually been made, though.
A weird thing about the first reaction is that the block and blinker constellation is duplicated if a sacrificial object is added.

Currently working to improve Life's guns and work on updating SKOPs and Isotropic rules most similar to B3/S23 to Life standards. Will get software to begin searches eventually.

3 MWSSes to 2, found while trying to lower the lower bound for which strictly volatile oscillators can be constructed (based on the below post):

Not only the 1 gen delay, there is the 4 cell narrowing. But the existence of such an sparse transparent bait points to future - albeit slow - orthogonal reflectors.
Oh my God! -- it's full of search space!

No. Despite the red cell having a period of 180, this is two oscillators, not one.

Here is an example along the same lines that's LCM(48,64) that's a single object.

It's strange -- I found all kinds of small still lifes and pseudo-still lifes that could replace the left-hand block and still produce a temporary switch engine. But after trying a boat beehive loaf ship eater carrier etc. in that position, I eventually had to give up and put another block somewhere to convert the temporary switch engine to a permanent BLSE. As soon as I gave up and allowed a third block, it was easy:

Code: Select all

x = 30, y = 7, rule = B3/S23

And it doesn't take much moving that block around, even without Seeds of Destruction to help, to find a less-dirty Blockic BLSE seed

It creates B-heptominoes, then the emitted gliders interact with other gliders, creating gaps in one stream.

Here is a similar one, using the 2-glider mess, which becomes regular enough to be controllable, but still unpredictable:
