New p2 rotor?

Post by Saka »

Hi, I think I found a new p2 rotor:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 8, rule = B3/S23
3b2o$b2o3bo$4o2bo$3bobo$3bo$2b2obo$bo2bobo$b2o2b2o!
It's 14 bits
Is it new?

It looks like 2 frogs.

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 2, rule = B3/S23
3o$b3o!

I couldn't find it on pentadecathlon.

So I guess it's new, i'll call the oscillator con-toad

It is very easy to find small period-2 oscillators using programs like WinLifeSearch or JavaLifeSearch, so most of them are not considered interesting. Also, patterns like this should probably be posted in the unsure discoveries topic.

Sorry, but this oscillator isn't new. It's listed as 23P2.558 on pentadecathlon.com.
Do you know about the .SOF format? You can find an object on pentadecathlon by entering its SOF. The SOF encoding of your oscillator is

Code: Select all

222-11121-01112-031-01111-124-132-022.
Also, I believe this (22P2.1936) is the smallest stator for your oscillator:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 8, rule = B3/S23
bo2b2o$obo2bo$bob2o$3bo$bobo$o2b4o$o3b2o$2b2o!

The tub is unnecessary, reducing it to 21 bits:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 8, rule = B3/S23
4b2o$b2o2bo$bob2o$3bo$bobo$o2b4o$o3b2o$2b2o!
