I suspect that this would work best with an explosive rule. The thought here is that with rules that tend to turn into high-density explosions, whether they be stable (like B3/S234) or chaotic (like B3/S235), collisions between exploding regions will cause huge die-offs near the collision point, when combined with the way births work in this rule, creating "fires" of the other two colors that can find their way deep into an explosion of the third color. Here is a small (12x12) soup in the B3/S234 version of this rule, which seems to perfectly showcase what I mean (words are hard), as well as a small 2c/4 spaceship that uses more than one color.

This is simply a naming nomenclature proposal: translifeR1-R2 means that a single color on its own behaves like R1, but like R2 when in contact with other colors.

I wouldn't really want to see the local community forgetting about cellular automata and devolving into low-effort "chats" and "jokes" and whatnot.

To find a cellular automaton where something is possible is a puzzle, often hard enough to be interesting. It is interesting precisely because you can only choose the cellular automaton (number of states, neighbourhood, rules) and the initial configuration, but after that's chosen, it "works by itself".

"To draw a funny picture" fails to be a puzzle.
