Probably not, but perhaps.
But, finding one would mean we could create a gun, so can someone do some research into an over-unity reaction?

Small methuselah that makes the flying F tagalong, stabilises at generation 658.

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 7, rule = B3/S23-a5
b3o2$4bo$3obo$o2bo$3o$obo!
This below is the symmetrical variation of the spaceship, and is reasonably common in D8+1, D4+1, and D4+2.

A glider reflector can be made with a T phase-shifter. Has one been been discovered yet? (We only need the glider reflector to make a gun using the fishhook over-unity reaction.)

I am aware, as I posted earlier that that tagalong is the symmetrical variation, and later that it is extensible, implying you can put the symmetrical variation on the tagalong, but that wasn't obvious, so it makes sense why you thought I didn't know. I am going to add information about this extensible spaceship on the wiki

PK22, can you use ikpx2 to find backends?
If so, please use it to find a 3c/7 backend, as ikpx2 had no problem extending partials of this speed, but if we find a backend, we could use it for meet in the middle, which hopefully would find a 3c/7 spaceship.
Also, no one has attempted 2c/7d yet. Can you do a search of 2c/7d?

I don't think that ikpx2 can be used to find backends. It can extend backends, but I do not know how to find them in the first place.
I will attempt a 2c/7d search.

Hmm, I swear I remember seeing on the wiki page that there was a way to search for backends. There definitely should be though, but it is still helpful to do a 2c/7d search.

Sorry, I stopped the search in order to focus on developing the new pseudo symmetries, and I forgot to save any other partials. After the 3c/7o and knightship searches, I do not think that doing long ikpx2 searches with low chances of success is a good idea, and I want to focus my computing power on the new pseudo symmetries anyway.

That is understandable. But, what symmetries do you mean when you are talking about pseudo symmetries?
Also, if you want to concentrate on hauls for now, I have a task you can do if you want: try to get all 4-fold symmetries to 1 billion objects. There are only three four-fold symmetries that aren't at 1 billion objects yet, and they are C4_1 (950 mil), D4_x1 (933 mil), and D4_x4 (161 mil). The last one may be difficult, and I am aware that C4_1 is slow, but this would be very helpful, as oscillators with 4-fold symmetry are probably not going to appear anywhere else, especially large ones.

By pseudo-symmetries, I mean the new ones you may have seen on Catagolue, named Pseudo_<symmetry>_Test. Pseudo-objects (e.g bi-block, block on beacon, boat on eater) are added to the census whole instead of being separated. The script can be found at User:PK22/apgsearch v1.1 Py3.

Sadly, the hacked script can only search outer-totalistic rules, so we cannot apply it here. praosylen’s hacked apgsearch does have an option to count pseudo-objects, but it cannot upload to Catagolue if you do so. Also, it will not be able to separate Ts properly, and I have not fully adapted it to Python 3.

I will focus on searching D4_x4.

EDIT 14/7/2025: I am currently implementing INT support, I should have it finished by the end of the day. I was right about T separation, it finds tons of horribly separated spaceships. It does work with Python 3.

Here is a list of technologies, and speeds with that technology
spaceships:
c/2, 2c/5, c/3, 2c/7, c/4, c/5, c/6, c/7, c/3d, c/4d, c/5d, c/6d, (2,1) c/5
puffers:
c/2
rakes:
c/2
wickstretchers:
c/3d, c/4d

Can anyone find a c/5d or c/6d wickstretcher or c/4d puffer? We have a lot of c/4d spaceships, there definitely should be a way to make one.
mmmmmmmmm, I love eating spaceships.
My name has 9 'm's, if you're wondering.

PK22, or anyone else who is interested, can you invest some time into mmmmmmmmm's request of finding a diagonal puffer? Doing so would be very helpful to me as well, and I am only requesting this because I believe it has a high chance of success, unlike other searches that I have requested.
Edit: I made the flying F tagalong into a wave, it looks kind of weird

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 15, rule = B3/S23-a5:T9,15
8bo$o5b2o$o6bo2$7bo$5bo$3b2obo$4bobo2$4bo$2bo$2obo$bobo2$bo!
Could we use the flying F tagalong to make a wickstretcher, similar to an antstretcher?
Edit 2: To those people who seem to look here but never talk here, we could really use more help with things such as ikpx2 searches and hauling on catagolue.

You could download and compile the programs yourself and run the searches you want, which it notably doesn't seem like you've done.

I have tried, my computer refuses to run ikpx2 no matter how I download it.

Consider downloading qfind, LLSSS, and apgsearch. You can also run rlifesrc in the browser.
