Is there a thread for "Turing completeness proofs" in OCA?

There is a thread focused on the space of 2^18 Life-like cellular automata: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2597

There is also a thread viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3362 "Resources pertaining to computation in cellular automata"

And viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3515 "OCA circuit discussion thread"

I haven't noticed any major issues today. I did get a 503 at one point, but I can't remember if it was the conwaylife domain or Catagolue.

I got two or three 503 errors while browsing the wiki (a few hours ago). The load time might be a bit longer than usual.

Is there a way to do a search which is limited to just a particular section of the website, e.g., "Patterns"?

Advanced search gives you the option.

I'm on another forum where using the regular search box while you're on the Patterns subforum page would only search Patterns (or would if it didn't break a year ago), but unfortunately that doesn't work here since it's a different software.

How would it differ from existing threads, like these?
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2238 Thread for basic non-CGOL questions
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2030 Rule request thread
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2718 Request a Rule to be "Tamed"
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=6793 OCA Construction Challenges and Ideas

It's not exactly that you would be "disallowed" from creating a new thread, just that (most likely) it would be redundant to already existing threads. What would be the purpose of a new thread? What would be ontopic? How it would differ from the linked threads?

Why do different topics have different symbols at the front of their names?

Code: Select all

Lightbulb = pinned
If not pinned, fire = at least 25 replies, "page" = fewer than 25 replies
A star on any thread means you've posted there
A red logo means there's at least one unread post; gray means there isn't

Are the ones with an arrow moved from another forum (e.g. conwaylife.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=5)?

I can't even access that page myself, whether logged in as a moderator or logged out in private browsing.

"The requested page could not be found."

8 is the other number that gives the same message.

When I open conwaylife.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=5, it appears to be the Game of Life section of the forums.

Edit:??? "The requested page could not be found."

Edit 2: Oh, it opens this:

Code: Select all

conwaylife.com/forums/conwaylife.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=5
Edit 3: viewforum.php?f=5 works!

Code: Select all

x = 31, y = 13, rule = C

The paperclip means that the thread contains attachments.

Code: Select all

Apparently there was a downtime that lasted for hours, and some posts had disappeared, perhaps as result of reverting back to a backup. Why this happened?
