is this rule 'life without Tubs' notable? In this rule, the tub is not stable, and becomes a traffic light after 8 generations, 7 if you count the frame with a dot spark in the middle.

What is in a rule doesn't have much to do with if a rule is "notable", if one can even call a specific rule notable. If you are wondering if the rule will be popular, I don't know, and I doubt anyone else does. The closest question I can answer is whether one should post in an existing thread, or make a entire thread for a rule.

In order to organize the forum, my rule of thumb is "Will I and others write several posts worth of text about this topic?".
  • If no, where what I want to say can fit in a couple posts, I post it to a general thread, as you did.
  • If yes, then I would consider making a dedicated thread for the topic.
The purpose of all this is to limit the number of threads with just one or two posts.

I think there are a few reasons, but the main one from my perspective is that the conditions which cause those patterns to expand (B2e, B2c, B3a, or B3i) are also symmetric. When a rule is frothy and chaotic, how much a pattern expands depends mostly on the probability of these conditions appearing, expanding the pattern. Since symmetric conditions occur more often in symmetric patterns, there are simply more chances for the pattern to expand. Then, any rule near the threshold can have enough expansion transitions to explode when symmetric but not enough when asymmetric.

Currently working to improve Life's guns and work on updating SKOPs and Isotropic rules most similar to B3/S23 to Life standards. Will get software to begin searches eventually.

Looks like linear growth to me.

No the population growth isn't quadratic. Just because it resembles a growing spiral, doesn't imply any specific population growth.
Even if you additionally count dead cells which were previously alive (the history envelope), there are only 476686 nonzero cells in generation 2^20, and there are only 1,531,169,434 nonzero cells in generation 2^30.
Looking at the actual mechanism by which the population grows confirms that it isn't quadratic.

Are there rule where all 3 eaters (viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3316&p=169974#p169974) are spaceships can can be eaten by a still-life glider?

If you look at the three spaceships given, there is no isotropic range-1 Moore rule where they can all coexist - the Catagolue pages show that, for example, the eater 1 spaceship requires S5q, but the eater 2 spaceship cannot function with S5q. There is therefore no way for them to all function as spaceships in a single rule, let alone all be eatable by a glider still life.

Something involving weighted neighbourhoods might be possible, but your question is probably only about INT range-1 Moore rules.
EDIT: Maybe? It might be difficult without weighted neighbourhoods, but there should exist a LTL rule that works. I know barely anything about either, though.

Not really, I expected that range-1 moore neighborhood rules won't work, but does that mean a Larger-than-life rule could work?

Descriptively, it appears that it can indeed be called "catalysis", because someone did (as you wrote).

In the rule with over 100 NRSS there is these 2 ships that fall one cell out of sync every 1/(25/826-24/793)=655018 generations. Because 655018=826*793 this is also the maximum time to fall out of sync for ships of period 793, and 826.

2-cell spaceships are impossible in isotropic 2-state rules because they must retain rotational symmetry.

Most of the 3-cell spaceships slower than around c/3 are probably non-monotonic - especially the slower you get. You can find lots of them just browsing through the 5S thread. Some examples:
