Hiya! I'm 2lw+2lh+2wh, but I'm not gonna say more about myself until I'm unbanned from the Discord. My username's "temporaryaccount103938493488483". I got banned because the people thought I was Cole. * incorrect buzzer * NimbleRogue asked how many alts Cole had, and I just said 3. Now everyone thinks I'm Cole just because I said that. I even saw a ghost notif after I was banned from Planetnine saying "You just dont learn dont you". It's really not hard to tell how many alts he has from just lurking in the server for a month or two. I said 3 because there's obviously Cole, then abaca was talking about Alicia, then probs Abaca themselves. So I hope that's enough for me to not be suspected as Cole and be unbanned. I rlly wanna continue OoTT.

I'm not on discord. But judging by what various people at various times said about the environment on discord, it is not entirely clear why on earth anyone would want to remain in such an unwelcoming place.

Context
The Discord server is linked to from the Links section at the top of conwaylife.com forum pages, but otherwise isn't officially affiliated with the forums -- there's just a lot of overlap in membership, for obvious reasons.

Banning decisions in the two places are made completely independently. I'm a moderator here, for example, but I'm not a moderator on Discord (and don't want to be).

One important consequence is that it's perfectly possible to be banned on Discord but be a member in good standing on the forums. Someone can do this simply by making on-topic contributions to the forums, while being careful to avoid airing Discord-drama grievances here. I.e., there's no shortage of freedom to speak here on the forums, as long as people are using the forums for their intended purpose, which is discussing cellular automata.

I would strongly suggest that we should close this "please unban me from Discord" topic right here with this post. Any further discussion can happen via PM.

According to discussion on Discord, your account was not banned for being a sock puppet.

To clarify, rule 1 violations on Discord (or elsewhere) can still result in a ban on the forums.
