It may or may not be some kind of a problem with the choice of the CA to search ("pathological soups", unusual growth, and so on) However, it is unlikely to be a problem with software. https://gitlab.com/apgoucher/lifelib/-/ ... heads#L166

(not an answer, but possibly helpful or interesting)

There were earlier cases where people had some kind of issues with B0 involving CAViewer, for example viewtopic.php?p=176537#p176537 (although the error was apparently different in that case).

Interestingly, an old haul (2023) was not yet processed: https://catagolue.hatsya.com/haul/b02-m3-os0h/C1 I remember there were several other cases like this one.

So far there was little investigation of B0 that is visible on Catagolue:

At least, there is always the possibility of creating a .rule file with a ruletable implementing three-state CA (cellstates 0/1 in even generations, cellstates 0/2 in odd generations) to emulate two-state B0 explicitly. Tools like apgsearch/lifelib should support the usual Golly-compatible .rule files without needing CAViewer download.

This may be some kind of one-time error during an update, at least I don't see any recent commits that look like they could be related:

Hi. I'm trying to get started with Python, and I thought it was going to be as easy as lua. But lua comes as a pre-packaged binary with the golly installation.

My system:

In the dialog box try adding ".so" to the name and clicking OK. That is, your dialog box should say

If that doesn't work, figure out the correct name of the libpython3 shared object (.so) file by running the following command in the terminal:

If just the name of the shared object isn't enough, you will need to put the full path to the file in the dialog box.

How are people using apgsearch with B0 rules? Whenever I run them I always get an error.

A lot of hauls seem to be from apgsearch version 5, as recently as 2021-2022.

It might also be because your devices are on low power mode or low battery or energy saving mode or something.
