Yes, I think so.
Perhaps it would be good to replace smaller variant of Eater 3 by xs30_0g88ehjzg5t1vg23z11 on LifeWiki :roll:

In what sense? Like a script that substitutes the correct catalysis for you if one exists?

Well, "in some sense", that may be more of an open-ended question. There could be a script that substitutes the correct catalysis, or maybe some kind of an expert system.

in this, the eater+ship works as a catalyst but the large object on the left does not:

Code: Select all

x = 27, y = 14, rule = B3/S23
10bo$7bobo$8bo16bo$b2o19bobo$bo2bob2o15bo$3b2ob2o$21b2o$3b5o12bobo$2b

in this, both the objects work as catalysts:

Code: Select all

x = 27, y = 15, rule = B3/S23
8bo$10bo$7bobo13bo$8bo16bo$b2o19bobo$bo2bob2o15bo$3b2ob2o$21b2o$3b5o12b

o!
is there a case where the object on the left can catalyse using its block but the eater+ship cannot catalyse using its ship?
EDIT: here is a stator reduction of the left catalyst and an alternative to it in addition:

Code: Select all

x = 33, y = 16, rule = B3/S23
7bo17bo$9bo17bo$6bobo15bobo$7bo11bo5bo$2o16bobo$o2bob2o12bobob2o$2b2o

3bo$5bo2b2obo8bobo3b2o$5b2o13bobo4bobob2o$21bo4bo2b2obo$26b2o!
(the alternative will NEVER have a special case where the regular catalyst can't work)

That's not the weld in question, it's this one (May have been missed previously since shifting it 1 diagonal closer fails and only a 2d shift works)

Neither CatForce (Big list) or LightCone found a solution to clean this reaction at the end of a conduit (H-to-G solved here).

Code: Select all

x = 29, y = 34, rule = LifeHistory
7B6.2A$.7B3.2B2AB$.9B.4B$2.15B$.16B$.16B$.17B$.18B$20B$.19B$.19B$2.9B

4B$25.4B!
So I launched a not too complicated Bellman search.
It found this catalyst (with completion by me) that works but doesn't clean the area :

Code: Select all

x = 30, y = 34, rule = LifeHistory
7B6.2A$.7B3.2B2AB$.9B.4B$2.15B$.16B$.16B$.17B$.18B6.2E$20B4.E2.E$.19B

May be this catalyst is new, or does it have a replacement ?

Edit:
I don't know why CatForce or LightCone didn't find this transparent Beehive.
