Honey Ring: A large p17 found by iNoMed, provides completions to several partials as a moderate corner dot sparker. Also provides the first instance of a p17 that can be configured with a p2 to form a p34 LCM, the original way it was thought p34 would be solved.

While not pertinent to life, it also has some OCA uses (Omniperiodicity of B34c/S234c, for one) and can be reduced in Pedestrian Life by the p17 sparker in that rule.

Nominations need clear descriptions, credits and links to nomination posts and other relevant links. The stated purpose of the page a table on the wiki is to collect all nominees as they will appear in the final nominee list.

"Potential Candidates" lacks links and has issues with crediting discoverers (see above), and it looks like that page was not really intended to collect all nominations (instead, it's only incomplete nominations collected by one forum member, and unfortunately it's missing many entries and it's missing nomination posts and instead only "nominated in bulk" in viewtopic.php?p=200829#p200829 ).

It will happen whenever someone takes the intiative to make it happen. Sokwe reports having very little free time at the moment, but if someone else wants to step in and do the kind of careful documentation and summary that Sokwe often ends up doing, I'm sure everyone would be really grateful.

New c/4 diagonal technology

Despite being the first known speed and the speed of the smallest spaceship, there had long been very little high-period c/4 diagonal technology. This changed dramatically in 2024, spurred primarily by Keith Amling's new spaceship and puffer discoveries and David Bell's circuitry construction. What follows is only a brief overview. For a more comprehensive look at new c/4 diagonal technology in 2024, read the spaceship discussion thread starting from this post.

Catalytic spaceships
Perhaps the most important new achievement is Keith Amling's modifications to LLSSS allowing it to search for spaceships that can interact directly with small objects. These reactions allow both eating and modifying puffer debris. This means that many dirty puffers can be made into clean rakes, and it allowed the construction of advanced circuitry components. Circuitry
The various new catalytic spaceships allowed David Bell to make significant advances in c/4 diagonal glider circuitry. This began with a large collection of c/4 diagonal reflector, shifter, and duplicator convoys for sideways gliders. Bell then found a flyby reaction with a loaf that released a glider while shifting the loaf slightly. This gave significant control over glider timing and placement, while also allowing for the first backwards-to-sideways glider refltector:

While neither of these engines are stable on their own (they eventually destroy themselves), they can be stabilized using sparkers to create puffers and rakes of many different periods. The smallest known clean rakes of various periods up to 240 are linked in this table, almost all of which rely on c/4 diagonal technology discovered in 2024.

Constructions
Many new c/4 diagonal patterns with interesting properties were constructed in 2024, primarily by David Bell. Below is a list of some interesting examples:

This is more likely to happen and will happen quicker if everyone works together to build the list of entries with proper links, credits, and descriptions. I just added several entries to the working list that were taken from C28's POTY userpage. There are still more that need to be moved from that page (possibly with some changes), and it would be nice if I could get some help with that.

Another thing that would be useful is to write up a forum post for some of the more complicated entries that don't yet have a single nice source link. See for example my posts above for the glider gun and c/4 diagonal tech entries. One entry that I think needs such a post is the 2c/3 injector/receiver entry. If anyone wants to do this, see the March 9, 2024 and July 4, 2024 entries in the LifeWiki news archive for some relevant links. The post doesn't need to be as detailed as the c/4 diagonal tech entry; it just needs to include the most significant relevant discoveries with proper attribution.

• RCT15 optimization project (by Hippo.69): A reverse caber tosser-based spacefiller synthesis that reduces the tape length by roughly a factor of three from the first working RCT15 pattern (which synthesized Alan Hensel's decimal counter).
• fast stable F171 (by Evin and Simon Ekstrom): A long-desired variant of Brice Due's F171 conduit that uses a new catalyst to suppress an unwanted blinker, reducing the repeat time from 227 ticks to 120 ticks and allowing it to be followed by dependent conduits.
• extensible "clock" syntheses (by vilc): syntheses of a series of muttering moats, of which clock and cha-cha are the first examples.
