Midnight, Day 5
Later on Day 6
After investigating the image for a little but, it appears that the CA is 2-dimensional and uses the neighborhood shown here:
where . is a cell inside O's neighborhood. It looks like that the image is of a CA where a cell is born if it has 1 vN neighbor. Here are the first few generations:
Code: Select all
O
.O.
O.O
.O.
..O..
.....
O...O
.....
..O..
...O...
..O.O..
.O.O.O.
O.O.O.O
.O.O.O.
..O.O..
...O...

Even later on Day 6
I take cross-sections of the image.
Wait... isn't that a 1D CA? Let me check my rule chart...
Code: Select all
100 = 000 001 010 011 100 101 110 111
0 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 = 72
This new 2-dimensional CA seems to be emulating rule 72 in 2 dimensions!

Day 7
Found another note.
Cool! Looks like another 2-dimensional neighborhood:
An explosion:
Code:
Select all
rule:b1s0
O
Generation 1
OOO
OOO
OOO
Generation 2
O...O
.....
.....
.....
O...o

Day 8
I just found that all cellular automata could have logic of some sort; proven simply because all such functions have conditions, and conditions bring logics, logics bring computations.
