Ameoba Automata by Rick Zhou(not by me)
The amoeba automaton is a cellular automaton program based on the game of life that simulates the growth and devouring of amoeba worms.
The black area is the blank area.
Dark blue and dark red are cytoplasms that grow slowly.
Light blue and light red are cell membranes that can survive independently of the cytoplasm.
Blue and red are the core of the cell, which can only grow within the cytoplasm and can modify the cell membrane structure.
When there are three nuclei around, the empty space and cytoplasm will become the nucleus.
When there are at least four cell cores around and there is no cytoplasm, the cytoplasm will become a blank area.
When there is no cytoplasm around, the cell core will become a blank area.
When there are at least two cell cores around, the cell membrane will become a blank area.
When there is cytoplasm and cell membrane around and there is no cell core, the cell membrane will be produced in the empty space.
Cytoplasm will be produced in the empty space when there are three cytoplasms around, or when there are only three and less nuclei around and there is cytoplasm.
Fuchsia is a virus, which is produced with a small chance when the blue amoeba fights with the red amoeba (0.1% in my settings), which will convert other amoeba components into viruses, and after a generation, it will become a blank area.

Re: Ameoba Automata by Rick Zhou(not by me)
Sounds interesting, but not completely clear how it is supposed to work. Is there a working implementation that can be accessed on the web or as a Golly script/ruletable?
The part where you wrote "When there are three nuclei around..." is the first occurrence of the word 'nuclei' which was not previously defined. What it means here?
It looks like there are eight cellstates, correct?
0 = black
1 = dark blue
2 = dark red
3 = light blue
4 = light red
5 = blue
6 = red
7 = fuchsia
How to decide whether new cells are blue or red? Is that deterministic? Do "surviving" cells keep their "blue/red" type?
Since there is pseudorandomness involved ("... produced with a small chance ..."), one would probably need some sort of "background noise" to implement this in Golly, which would (at least) double the number of cellstates.
I'm not sure if the rules are sufficiently clear and well-defined as written, that may depend on answers to the above questions.

I'm Chinese so I use Microsoft Translate, but it is not well so "nuclei" is also same as "cell core" or "core of the cell". And another type of cell is "Wall", which is white and will not change by anything so it can block ameobas, and can produce circuit like wireworld.confocaloid wrote: February 8th, 2025, 5:03 am Sounds interesting, but not completely clear how it is supposed to work. It is very likely that I got something wrong in some of the interactions between the cellstates, but anyway, here is my zeroth (_v0_) attempt at reimplementing the idea in RuleLoader.LittleLWSS wrote: February 8th, 2025, 11:35 pmI'm Chinese so I use Microsoft Translate, but it is not well so "nuclei" is also same as "cell core" or "core of the cell". There are no "wall" cells here (for simplicity, and also because the page you linked does not appear to document all the exact rules when "wall" cells are involved, and instead just says "other rules are modified when there are walls around" and gives one example).
In several places, I had to guess because there were no clear unambiguous explanations.
For example, I had to guess that "4 or more neighbor core cells" actually means "4 or more friendly neighbor core cells" unless explicitly stated otherwise, is that correct?
Also, I had to guess that "3 neighbor cytoplasm cells" actually means "precisely 3 friendly neighbor cytoplasm cells", is that correct?

"Neighbor core/cytoplasm/membrane" are refers friendly, such as, a blue cell's neighbor cell must be blue except the rule says "neighbor enemy cell" then it means red cell, and vice versa.confocaloid wrote: February 9th, 2025, 3:20 amIt is very likely that I got something wrong in some of the interactions between the cellstates, but anyway, here is my zeroth (_v0_) attempt at reimplementing the idea in RuleLoader.LittleLWSS wrote: February 8th, 2025, 11:35 pmI'm Chinese so I use Microsoft Translate, but it is not well so "nuclei" is also same as "cell core" or "core of the cell". If you understand Chinese then you can use this link: http://deepmess.com/amoeba/#zh
Otherwise this: http://deepmess.com/amoeba/#en
And, core is This color(lighter) instead of This color(darker) and membrane is 80BFFF/FF8080 instead of 0000FF/FF0000.
Also, if you want you can add Green ameoba in it, with this membrane color, this core color, this cytoplasm color.
