A period 8 lightspeed spaceship that only works in a tube that's 8 blocks wide:
Code: Select all
x = 8, y = 32, rule = B3/S23:T8,0
4bo$3b3o3$3b3o$4bo4$4bo$4bo$2bo3bo$b3ob3o$b3ob3o$bobobobo$2b2ob2o$2b2o
b2o4$3b3o2$3bobo$4bo2$2o5bo2$2b5o4$8o!
A 9-cell ancestor of the spaceship:
Code: Select all
x = 8, y = 2, rule = B3/S23:T8,0
4bo$8o!
Basically useless but really interesting, in my opinion.
EDIT: Found another that's some sort of agar-like shape in every phase:
Code: Select all
x = 8, y = 2, rule = B3/S23:T8,0
obobobo$8o!
Period 2, travels at the speed of light. Much smaller bounding box. It can be extended to any even-numbered tube width and retain its properties.
EDIT2: More 8-tube findings:
Code: Select all
x = 8, y = 5, rule = B3/S23:T8,0
3b2o$bo4bo2$o6bo$8o!
Period 4 with domino sparks every other generation
Code: Select all
x = 8, y = 8, rule = B3/S23:T8,0
3b2o$2bo2bo$3b2o$2o4b2o4$8o!
Period 8, makes and destroys a beehive. Has a simple ancestor:
Code: Select all
x = 8, y = 4, rule = B3/S23:T8,0
3b2o$3b2o2$8o!
This leaves a line hexomino oscillator that only works in an 8-tube in its wake as well.
Code: Select all
x = 8, y = 4, rule = B3/S23:T8,0
b2o2b2o$b2o2b2o2$8o!
Blocks can prevent tube sawtooth patterns from going into a certain part of the tube. It requires proper spacing and may not always work, depending on the width. Using that, we can end up with a true still life that doesn't work outside a tube:
Code: Select all
x = 8, y = 7, rule = B3/S23:T8,0
b2o2b2o$b2o2b2o2$8o2$b2o2b2o$b2o2b2o!
That's all I have for now.
