Start a WeChat?

Since we have many Chinese users, how about we start a WeChat?

While there's no stopping anyone from creating such a chat room, I believe it should not be promoted here on the forums. In fact, I would actively discourage people from using WeChat, both because it is owned by a company that supports the authoritarian Chinese government, possibly creating security issues for users, and because it makes it more likely for Life/CA discoveries to never be posted publicly, a problem that also occurs with Discord.

Noteworthy CA discoveries, nontrivial CA constructions, interesting CA-related discussions, all deserve to be posted publicly, becoming part of the existing knowledge, available to all interested readers.

I believe informal conversations that do not contribute to existing knowledge or understanding of Life/CA (ie. "chatting", "gaming", "jokes/memes", and so on, and so forth) all can and should happen through other different channels (such as private messages for clarifications or short chats, or any external "chatroom" type services people find convenient). However, there is no good reason to promote any of those external services here, and I certainy agree that there should be no promotion of this particular service here.

This comes from someone who is neither Chinese nor on the Discord.

Note that the wiki page "Conwaylife Lounge" currently states:

[...] The server was created in order to house discussions which were too informal for the forums, as well as a place where questions could be asked and answered more readily and where more discoveries could be shared without spamming the forums. [...]
