Common compact constellations / B3S23clustersv0

I made a three-state ruletable (Rule:B3S23clustersv0) where cellstates 0 and 1 work the same way as in CGoL and cellstate 2 is an OFF cell with at least one adjacent ON cell in the previous generation.

The effect is that from the viewpoint of apgsearch, many compact constellations become single objects. I submitted 1 000 000 16x16 soups to x2xb3s23clustersv0/C1 using this ruletable.

In the xq4 tabulation, the HWSS (with 142 occurrences) is closely followed by the following glider pair (113 occurrences). This seems to be unambiguously the most common glider pair, out of pairs recognized as single objects. (I do not know whether there are more common glider pairs with higher separation between gliders.)

The xp15 and xp30 tabulations together have 18 occurrences of constellations, all of which would normally be occurrences of a pentadecathlon. The two most common are the following constellation (6 occurrences) and a clean pentadecathlon (5 occurrences):

The reason for the commonness of that constellation seems to be the pi+block collision:

  • "x2xb3s23clustersv0" -- actual number of occurrences in the first 1000000 soups in x2xb3s23clustersv0/C1, counting only clean occurrences (i.e. excluding larger constellations tabulated as single objects)

As a concrete example, this one-time splitter constellation (taken from this post) is tabulated as xs53_0ca6zw8kic_ujlpfz0smbdjuzw1111 and has 50 occurrences in 1000000 soups (#17 in xs53 tabulation).

I did not look at all 50 soups, but it seems like variations of the following reaction are one of common ways for the constellation to form. The two-loaf constellation has 7819 occurrences (#1 in xs60 tabulation), and may form before or after the block.

It might make sense to make another ruletable to census pseudo objects only (like bi-block), so that there are fewer objects in the census.

This thread is in "Sandbox", because I decided to create it in the "Sandbox". And that was because it was more or less an experimental ruletable, and I was not sure if there's any interest in this. If others think it would go better in "Patterns" or "General discussion", then perhaps a mod could move the thread.
(I think there is little difference between "Sandbox" vs. "Other cellular automata", in terms of the average time before a thread sinks to second/third page.)

I'm currently apgsearching "B3S23pseudoclusters" (which only captures pseudo objects without capturing quasi objects or constellations); see the forum post viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6464#p197611

Also, hopefully everyone understands that "higher range" means "way more 'objects'", making it less reasonable to attempt running apgsearch on those higher-range versions.
For example, check the tabulation /x2xb3s23clustersv0/C1/xp2 or /x2xb3s23clustersv0/C1/xp6.
With higher ranges, "interesting" constellations are going to get lost in a heap of zillions of "boring" constellations.

That one is apparently undocumented (where it comes from?), and it is unclear how it was generated, whether it really captures all pseudo objects and only pseudo objects (e.g. does it capture pseudo oscillators? How about spaceships?)

A dedicated ruletable is better, because it is easier to understand what becomes an "object", and also because it becomes possible to use unmodified official apgsearch.

Someone should upload the ruletable posted in viewtopic.php?p=197611#p197611 (which is what I'm using to submit hauls), so that it will be possible to preview the pseudo objects in /census/x2xb3s23pseudoclusters/C1.

On an artistic note: I really love how the b3s23cluster rule looks. It's kind of ethereal, but also art deco, how the outlines kind of envelop the active regions.
