Bronco can be followed by the B-to-I followed by the single-block I-to-R followed by RSW3T42, resulting in a slow 90-degree glider reflector with transparent output lane. Here is a p807 glider gun, made by attaching a component from

The same block-to-beehive transformation can be performed from two opposite sides, which might be useful in different situations:
Code:
Select all
x = 22, y = 40, rule = LifeHistory

That pairs up reasonably nicely with a recently discovered H-to-G3 (SW-5T69) to make an H-to-G with a SE-traveling glider on an adjustable lane:

I haven't checked whether it actually produces different timings compared to every similar-sized structure that we know about -- like the various G0s plus semi-Snarks and semi-cenarks, and plain Snarks plus various shifters, and so on. It's a standard boat-turner attached to the Herschel's first natural glider, so we've known about larger engineered ways to get those glider timings for decades now. But I don't
think we've seen anything with this small a bounding box.
Maybe the most similar existing technology is the various small G4 and G5 converters plus the
loaf2GtoG .
(Hm, Guam's loaf2GtoG doesn't have any hits on LifeWiki yet. Seems like it's small and paleo-Spartan enough to deserve some documentation.)

What is the fastest known way to transform the output Herschel of the G-to-H into the input Herschel of the boat factory?

I think it will be hard to improve this way :
Code: Select all
$ ./hersrch -p 997 -c 62 -o SilverBoat.rle -n 50 -s -x 10000 -u 1000 -t 100 -e "(a=50..1000)F(0)[0,0]..B(a)[21,35]"

There is a reasonably fast true-Spartan solution, as long as you are willing to sacrifice real-Life asymmetry:
