if you have a circuit and theres a photon that you have to wait a long time before you can release again because otherwise you mess up the circuit and you dont want to eat the photon and you dont want to place one far away?

I don't really see anything particularly special about that pattern, but either way, here's a spark whose bounding box increases from 5-by-5 to 9-by-5 in two ticks:

As a side note, can you please reduce the number of posts you make, by one or two orders of magnitude? With lots of short chatty posts and multiposts, most of which do not really contribute anything of interest to people interested in Life/CA, you're basically spamming these forums.

Note that other people already said things to the same effect.

If you don't listen to other people (including myself), I'm going to start reporting short "chat-like" posts you make, more or less semiautomatically as soon as I see them.

Mods won't be particularly happy with lots of reports; but on the other hand, I'm pretty sure that mods aren't happy with your chatlike activity here, either; whether or not it gets reported is secondary to whether or not it happens. It shouldn't really happen here. These forums are for sharing and discussing interesting nontrivial Life/CA-related ideas, reactions, patterns, algorithms, software tools.

@tommyaweosme, you seem to have reached 1000 posts already, after several warnings from various people including moderators that you're posting way too much. Read what confocaloid says in the last post, very carefully -- I'd guess that it's a very good representation of the opinion of a large majority of the community here.

I sent a "final warning" to you in a PM on June 22nd, but I wasn't completely clear that enormous volumes of posts with little or no CA content are not welcome on the forums, even in the Sandbox.

You're definitely not going to get to 10,000 posts in three years, because moderators' tolerance for noisy newcomers will have worn off long before then. As I have mentioned to you, you're really not a newcomer any more, and you've made so many posts now that your grace period has pretty much expired already. So --

Ban warning #1
If you reach even 2000 posts before 2026, while continuing the signal-to-noise ratio that you've put on display in your posts so far, I'll institute a tempban that lasts until 2026.

Your "filler" post has been reported. The more recent one about the "5x5 spark" is nominally CA-related -- but the point is really a hidden obscenity rather than any actual CA content, so that one was reported too.

All of this nonsense makes more work for moderators. Moderators are really really not interested in having you generate any more of this kind of pointless boring work -- even in the Sandbox.

Ban warning #2
The next time you seem to be trying to increase your post count with filler, or the next time that a similar number of justifiable complaints about your behavior turns up in the reporting queue, I'll start out with a one-week tempban and increase the timeouts rather quickly from there.

Ban warning #3
The next silly experiment along the lines of the "5x5 spark" will immediately trigger a one-year tempban. This is a public final warning.

Please remember to stop including all that unnecessary repetition! It makes your posts ridiculously hard to read. Several people have reminded you about this. Read the forum rules, and get in the habit of hitting "Reply" instead of quoting, if you can't be bothered to edit down the quote to the relevant part (if any).
