People tend to perceive things in different ways. After having experience with GoL, I am pretty confident that most of us see gliders as "that small thing that darts out of things". Blinkers will usually be seen as dull and uninteresting, especially when in traffic lights (oh, what a surprise...); however, I am pretty sure that people will see some differently:
For me, a Herschel is a rugby player. That seems odd, right? Well, it just rapidly moves somewhere, sort of orthogonally, and then passes the ball [the glider(s)], as in rugby, backwards! I can't help but think of that like that.
Again, for me, the pi-heptomino looks like a cauliflower. Actually, more like Romanesco broccoli. It is like one of those fractal bits of the vegetable. Also Mandelbrot, somewhat.
How you visualise patterns
Re: How you visualise patterns
The weighted spaceships are actually ducks.
Seeing the resemblance here isn't hard.
Also, this resemblance:
Guess there's some truth behind "featherweight spaceship"
Code: Select all

No they aren't. The two threads have completely different topics.Citation needed wrote: December 14th, 2024, 10:35 am Forum thread 6794 may be a duplicate of this thread.
This forum thread is about how people visualise patterns.
That forum thread is about a particular error caused by counting "things that separate things-of-interest" instead of counting "things-of-interest", or vice versa: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Off-by-on ... post_error

I think of 164p8 as a HWSS working tirelessly to stabilize the sparker:
