Well I have one synthesis, which I'm unsure, turn 3 gliders and a block into 2 gliders and a bunch of blocks. Only posting here since well, it was their place :) .

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 21, rule = B3/S23
2bo$obo$b2o2$5bobo$5b2o$6bo4$b2o$b2o7$6b2o$5b2o$7bo!

In a way, that's true. It's a 5-glider synthesis of some junk... It's... pointless?
If you want glider collisions creating more gliders, how about:

Code: Select all

x = 23, y = 21, rule = B3/S23
2$9bo$8bo$8b3o7$6bo$5b2o$5bobo!
the 2-glider mess

Gustavo we call synthesis things that actually produce something rare or unique, or at lease "bunch of something" that can be used for anything.

What you did is not synthesis - is just colliding stuff into stuff. It's totally random Pi with Pi collision. You didn't "find" anything - you just place some random stuff and got some random stuff, without any point.

Well I have one pattern which I'm unsure, since it makes a boat with 2 gliders and a blinker (boats were before only able to be synthesized with 3 gliders)!

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 8, rule = B3/S23

That's a ... 4 gliders synthesis.
Why don't you trust people that tell you that every 2-Gs are known?

4 gliders? Weren't it 2 gliders and a boat? Maybe every 2Gs are known really, maybe they just think so.
Found out 4 gliders make a blockade:

Code: Select all

x = 14, y = 12, rule = B3/S23
13bo$obo8b2o$b2o9b2o$bo4$12bo$11b2o$4b2o5bobo$3bobo$5bo!
Sorry if it can be done with less. Originally it was another 4G synth of boat, this time pure gliders (no blinker), but I decided to take your steps and improve it a little. Well anyway, that's one cool start.

No, EVERY 2G collisions are known. If I'm not mistaken, there are 72 of such. YOu can find them in the "syntheses" folder. If you did so, you would be able to see that there is a way to make a blockade with 2Gs. Finally, there is nothing wrong in taking 2 steps in a synthese, but then you must also count the gliders involved in the previous pattern (a blinker, here)

Okay. I'll see what I can do. I don't know what is that "syntheses" folder however!
If this is still not discovered, I will post 2 gliders move a blinker obliquely (wow, hard word to write :) ):

Code: Select all

x = 19, y = 9, rule = B3/S23
bo14bobo$2bo13b2o$3o14bo4$11bo$11bo$11bo!
And if you do a double-barreled glider gun, you can reflect both barrels: (don't work with only one glider)

Code: Select all

x = 14, y = 11, rule = B3/S23
11bobo$11b2o$bo10bo$2bo$3o4$7bo$7bo$7bo!

Gustavo, blockade can be synthesized with 2 gliders. If you had just spent 20 seconds, you could have learnt it from the LifeWiki. You waste your and our time with postings like that.

What's the point of making a boat with two gliders and a blinker, if you can make it with merely two gliders?

Gustavo until you will not start to listen and LEARN!!!! you will continue to make those embarrassing claims:

Neither did me Towerator ^_^
Okay, this is NOT 2G reaction. Six gliders and a blinker make a pond and a glider in the inverse direction of the topleft in the original salvo.

Code: Select all

x = 33, y = 56, rule = B3/S23
29bo$16bobo9bo$17b2o9b3o$17bo3$23b3o3$30b2o$30bobo$30bo2$27b2o$26b2o$
28bo$9b3o$11bo$10bo35$3o$2bo$bo!
It will 180 degree reflect the topleft glider and make the pond. Improved after e.g. a lot of mess, mere nothing, killing the blinker and making four gliders in every direction...
Sorry but I have difficulty defining "notability" or "interesting".
I will do a small pause by here. Later I find more stuff, other than glider things...
While I normally have ease in learning, it is hard to learn from these words I didn't even understood correctly! Use for what? And which prize?

Pond is made by two gliders as well:

Code: Select all

x = 42, y = 24, rule = B3/S23

Use for something notable. E. g. if you find a color-changing stable glider reflector that fits into 25x25 bounding box and has repeat time under 51 generations, you will get 100 U. S. dollars.

Sorry but I can only accept Brazillian reais. However I found a glider can turn a block into two with the assistance of an catalyst blinker (the reaction only works p2):

Code: Select all

x = 14, y = 14, rule = B3/S23
3o4$2o$2o6$12bo$11b2o$11bobo!
I will later try some repositions and see improvement possibilities.
EDIT: Improvement! Another glider will make it an clean reposition of the block and blinker with no leftover(!):

Code: Select all

x = 39, y = 44, rule = B3/S23
3o4$2o$2o5$10b2o$9b2o$11bo29$36b2o$36bobo$36bo!

The following in QuickLife (B3/S235) is an new p2 oscillator based in two small versions of half sparky coil:

x = 4, y = 8, rule = B3/S235

Terminology explanation time! When we say "stable reflector", we mean p1. As in, it can only contain still lifes. The Snark shows us why this is usful; it can reflect any glider stream of period 43 or higher even if it's a prime number.

Secondly, when we talk about "catalysts", we mean that the catalyst has to still be in the same place when the reaction is done. If it doesn't, it is not a catalyst.

So, for a stable reflector, you have to hit a still life with a glider, then use other still lifes to modify that reaction until A) all the still lifes are back where they used to be, and B) a glider comes out.

In the below reaction, the block on the left is not a catalyst, but the block on the right is--notice how it doesn't move.

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 15, rule = B3/S23
5b2o$5b2o5$2o$2o5$10b2o$9b2o$11bo!

First of all, "QuickLife" is not a good name for the rule because it is the name of one of the algorithms in Golly. When you run QuickLife the bar at the top of the screen is pale yellow.
Second of all, the induction coil is called a "cap".
Third of all, I discovered a smaller version yesterday using tables instead of caps:

x = 4, y = 6, rule = B3/S235

Nope, that extra glider isn't reflected -- it isn't even part of (f)reaction!

A for awesome is trying to explain an important point. People don't usually look for a way to do something with the largest number of gliders. If fewer gliders can accomplish the same task, then simpler is better.

Look at generation 250 of your pattern, and then generation 250 of this pattern:

Code: Select all

x = 58, y = 65, rule = B3/S23
39bo$37b2o16bobo$38b2o15b2o$56bo59$o$o$o!
After all of the hurly-burly's done, you get to the exact same place. Yes, it's absolutely true that your pattern absorbed a lot of gliders and created a new one. But going by the results, you might as well have saved a lot of trouble and not put in all those gliders in the first place.

Now, in some cases you might already have all those gliders in a larger pattern and want to get rid of them. This kind of thing comes up in the (23,5)c/79 'waterbear' knightship, for example, where extra gliders are a real problem to be solved -- if they aren't absorbed somehow, the knightship won't work.

In your pattern, the only problem is one that you created yourself: an unnecessarily large dying spark, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

-- Now, here's a challenge for you! A blinker takes two gliders to build, so the above pattern is equivalent to a four-glider recipe for that pond and that glider. That's still not optimal -- there are lots of three-glider equivalent patterns. If you can find one of them, I think it would be somewhat reassuring to all of us who have been trying to explain the basics of this topic to you.

(Yes, it's a slightly silly challenge, because one glider still won't interact at all. For bonus points, use four gliders that all come from the southeast and southwest, to produce the same pond+glider combination.)
