Welcome to the forums, tommyawesome! :D

Generally, most of the 'interesting' outer-totalistic rules can be found on the LifeWiki.

To me, B3/S34, though it doesn't have an article in the LifeWiki, is interesting to me simply because it was one of the first ever CA that I investigated. I found the same objects as you, but gave them different names.

I originally called the three 4-cell p2s 'block', 'reflector', and 'tripod' (guess which is which), and the p16 'hexadecimal'. (Sidenote: it was this CA that spurred me on to create this game.)

Here's my advice to you (and all newbies to CA) on which sites to go to find out whether a pattern you discovered is new.
- The LifeWiki. Most notable patterns in Conway's Life can be found here. It is a common misconception that large still-lifes or p2s can be found in the LifeWiki. They are usually not there unless they have an interesting property (e.g., for catalyses).
- Catagolue. Here is the link for B3/S34. Click on each of the links to find known objects in the rule. The characters after the rulestring are called the symmetry.
- gliderdb-searcher. This only works on outer-totalistic rules. Enter B3/S34 in the rule box, check 'Ignore Velocity', and you will find known spaceships in this rule.
- And, of course, the forums. Generally, post questions you have in Thread for non-CGOL basic questions when the question is not about Life. Otherwise, post in Thread for basic questions.

Here are some things to do to find new patterns:
- Install Golly. It is one of the best cellular automaton software around, and can, of course, simulate B3/S34. Also try using nbsearch2a, if you want to find new oscillators.
- Use rlifesrc. It is an online program that can help you find SLs, oscillators, and spaceships in any OT (outer-totalistic) or INT (isotropic non-totalistic) rule.

I hope this helps!

Most B3 interesting outer totalistic rules are already known, and this is quite stable. While there may be many things to find, searching is going to be a puzzle.
