In life viewer, if i want to make two blocks , one with red color and another with blue color, how do i do it ? Can you give me an example code ?

Just use TripleB3S23:

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 3, rule = TripleB3S23
2D$2D2.2A$4.2A!

You create a rule with 3 or more states with the colors (in RGB format) of your choice, program them to simulate Life, and you are done (if you want different colors to interact, program it accordingly with more states.)

In LifeViewer, one can also override cellstate colors for a specific pattern

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 5, rule = TripleB3S23
2A.2B.2C$2A.2B.2C2$2F.2E.2D$2F.2E.2D!

Thanks for the advice, but I can only access my account on a device without a keyboard and the copy functions either can’t work for other lifeviewers or I’m using them incorrectly. If there is any solution besides buying a wireless keyboard for my iPad, that would be greatly appreciated :)

What is the difference between a 2-engine corderpuffer, an ark and a sakapuffer? And if they are the same, why do different users prefer a specefic term?

I believe Saka suggested it because it could be constructed with only 7 gliders...
I didn't see the relevant post, can you provide it as well as the background information I mentioned above?
I hadn't tracked it back to its source, but it wasn't too hard to do. It turns out that it was chris_c who picked out a puffer from Saka's collection of puffers, on the grounds that it was cheap to synthesize. It was first called a "Sakapuffer" due to its source in Saka's collection, lower down on that same forum page (by calcyman).

Yup -- though the tripler has been known for a long time. See the p1035 gun for example.

So I guess the thing that wasn't known was that adding an eater2 would turn the tripler into a more compact doubler than any other 2H-G that we know about.

It would be a bit hard to do, because different sparks often converge into the same one before dying. However, while time-consuming, looking at one of the octohash databases for each spark you're interested in would help.

Is there any way to place a block in the following location from a pi?

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 4, rule = LifeHistory
3A$A.A$ADC$.2D!
Relatedly, is it a good idea to keep a census of all Pi-to-blocks? I noticed that a lot of block collisions produce a pi near their location. This could allow us to find more transparent blocks, in fact, this is how I found this transparent block:

Code: Select all

x = 10, y = 29, rule = B3/S23

This can be answered with a forum search. It is the extended Wechsler format encoding of [an orientation of] the following pattern:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 5, rule = B3/S23
b3o$obo$o$2obo$2b2o!
Here it is on Catagolue (with rulestring replaced to B/S012345678 so it is a still life rather than an unstable active object): https://catagolue.hatsya.com/object/xs1 ... s012345678

The string "e9jp" is not really a good name, but it is forum-searchable.

My suggested abbreviation for this object is "JJ" because it is an intermediate in the Jubjub reflector (and several other things).

When/if this active object becomes an "official" intermediate (with some arbitrary choice of the orientation and the center cell), a consequence of the choice of abbreviation will be whether the second stage of the speed tunnel is described as "JJ?42H", or as "LT?42H", or any other "??42H" (the question mark before '42' would be replaced by the orientation of the output Herschel relative to the input JJ, once that is decided).

i think that this would be a good choice for the official orientation and center cell

This region is ranked #530 in census.rle, and octo3obj shows that it's ranked properly (67 occurrences, approximately the same as those ranked near it). There are quite a lot of regions that are more common than it. It doesn't really deserve recognition.

What does ponytail mean? I've noticed it in ponytail test tube baby and now I'm wondering what is it.
Is it this thing below?

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 4, rule = B3/S23
o$bo$bo$b2o!
superstrings, fuses, waves, wicks, and agars are cool
