B024/S1V

Post by Alexey_Nigin »

Today I have been exploring B0 rules with von Neumann neighbourhood. I thought that something interesting could show up, and indeed I was rewarded by... a spaceship!

Code: Select all

x = 2, y = 3, rule = B024/S1V
2o2$o!

This creature frequently occurs naturally. It travels at c/2 orthogonally.

By the way, happy 14th birthday to Aidan F. Pierce!

Simple oscillators:

Code: Select all

x = 121, y = 7, rule = B024/S1V

I once wrote a custom Java application (which I have long since forgotten) to explore such Von Neumann CAs. I found that this was not one of the more interesting rules. Now that I have come back here, here are four little oscillators.

Code: Select all

x = 19, y = 21, rule = B024/S1V

Code: Select all

x = 31, y = 5, rule = B2-a/S12

Could you publish those "more interesting" rules? I have actually looked at all von Neumann CA that could theoretically support spaceships. This was the only rule with a natural spaceship I have found. Have I overlooked something?

Well, sorry, that program was written as a computer science module assignment (in Java). And I didn't note down the interesting rules, the teachers were just interested in the coding. And I deleted the application after the module was over.

Two spaceships interact non-trivially:

Code: Select all

x = 2, y = 8, rule = B024/S1V
2o2$o3$o2$2o!
Edit: Here is a wick:

Code: Select all

x = 79, y = 1, rule = B024/S1V:T80,0
o2b3o2bobo2b3o2bobo2b3o2bobo2b3o2bobo2b3o2bobo2b3o2bobo2b3o2bobo2b3o2b
o!
