Yes, it's only LOOP that needs an exemption.

There's a handful of older rule tables which exist to implement cell states which StateInvestigator would later include, and I think it would be useful for these to be converted to the [R]Extended standard for consistency and any possible performance improvements. The mod also ends up wrong as well (4 instead of 2) Both of these issues fix themselves if you make a selection and then identify again, making it seem like this is due to certain chunks or whatever they're called not being loaded during identification (such that making a selection would force load them).

Perhaps for the last two. However, Extended Life has a reasonably long, historically notable thread dedicated to it, and also is one of the rules distributed by the Golly Rule Table Repository, so I'm not sure how feasible it would be to mass edit old posts to update them. Maybe a note should be attached to the Rule Table Repository to announce that ExtendedLife is deprecated and use of [R]Extended is recommended instead?

Here's another bug I found: by deleting all of these cells by clearing a selection or drawing state 0 over them or probably other methods as well, the Alive cells counter at the bottom right stays at 4 - we'd expect it to go to 0. Cells that are drawn and then deleted are added and deducted from the counter as expected. (I suppose this could bring up the debate of whether states 2 and above should count towards the alive total or not - do you think they should, or should this be changed?)

In the 0 cell state, we get a lot of the bugginess that came with similar situations from earlier: Select All creates a 1x1 box at the origin, playback pauses at T=1, and so on.

From my testing, period maps in [R]Extended appear to work just about perfectly, with the important exception of the [R]Extended cells themselves, as they either render as background cells, p1 cells or p2 cells when they shouldn't. This is not optimal behaviour and can lead to misleading period maps. It would therefore be preferable for each cell type to be displayed uniquely on period maps, probably using the same color as they do on the normal grid (this may make them difficult to distinguish from certain periodic cells, though; I'm not sure if it'd be possible to make special cell types render differently on the grid, perhaps as shrunken squares, whereas periodic cells still use full size squares?).

Here's an oscillator for each cell type, with an accompanying abridged name that can be used for the key to the left of the map. (The p2 cells, such as states 6 and 7, can be considered the same as the ones they switch with on period maps: we don't care about which p2 cells are on or off at a given generation in the actual oscillator so the same doesn't need to be done for special cells IMO. For the color used on the period map, pick the brighter of the two states.)

For some cell colors that don't apply to a given rulespace, customising these via RGB will have the green and blue channels incorrectly misinterpreted as invalid commands instead of as part of the specified colors. Some other colors correctly are not followed by misinterpreted red and blue channels.

I should also mention that the script error page, despite overriding most of Identify, does not do the same for Graph. Should the script error page hide Graph as well, or should it not hide Identify? The script error page does hide other menus such as the SHOWGENSTATS menu so I don't know which is intended.

Could Identify's period limit be increased for sufficiently small patterns? This tiny thing, which must be periodic by definition, makes it to 4194304 in just 26 seconds:

From my testing, period maps in [R]Extended appear to work just about perfectly, with the important exception of the [R]Extended cells themselves, as they either render as background cells, p1 cells or p2 cells when they shouldn't.

I need to better understand which StateInvestigator states are on and off. From looking at Rule:StateInvestigator it doesn't appear to define whether state 14 is on or off. Also states 17 to 20 are problematic since whether they are on or off depends on whether we're calculating births or deaths. So if I see a state 17 cell in a pattern do I add it to the population as a live cell?

As a side note it would have been better if the odd numbered states were ON and even OFF as for [R]History and [R]Super.
