The base case is a 19-tick turn-without-flip component, and adding a turn-with-flip segment adds 4 ticks to duration. What were described as "a 27-generation 90 degree turn component and a 23-generation flipping component" by Dean Hickerson are simply the second and third instance of this family. Drifters are almost moot now. Because of the stable big glider reflector I found there are only 24 periods where the only known oscillators are drifter loops – here are those periods with their corresponding minpops:

The bigger sized gliders have been known for a long time, but I just found out that they can all be easily constructed in the most obvious way.

It's too bad that the big glider adding reaction doesn't work for two very close big gliders so as to close the gap to make an infinitely growing glider.

Maybe there is a different reaction that can fill the gap but I'm not hopeful.

Here is a c/7 diagonal partial, have no other diagonal speeds apart from the glider's c/6 been found? I don't think the rule can truly be that scarce for diagonals.
