Now, An Admission :

I must own up to the awful truth;

I have had our textbook for over a year and have not read it.

I am still "experiencing" Conway's Game of Life.

I am afraid if I read the Book, it would become trivial.

The Fun lies in exploring and discovering for yourself.

But then I spend a day or two following all the mind-blowing recent progress in our forums.

I feel it would no longer be mind-blowing if I read the Book.

( I might even start making significant noteworthy contributions - have them named after me even... )

Imagine if I studied Humanity enough that Humans became trivial. Horrors.

No-one makes any Loafer BitMap Printers because they are trivial ( except Jormungant, MrT and me ).

Somehow I feel I would lose a lot of my Life Enthusiasm;

I don't understand why yujh is claiming it's a still life synthesis. It's not. While it is off topic (too many transitions away), it definitely doesn't belong in the still life synthesis thread, which is doubly wrong as there's no synthesis involved and the synthesis thread is a CGOL thread, not an OCA thread.

EDIT by dvgrn: The annoying indentation problem isn't really the forum software's fault (for a change). Browsers universally remove leading spaces from displayed text, along with sticking multiple lines of text together. It's very very old behavior, so changing it would break almost every web page in existence; the idea is to be able to re-flow document text cleanly when it appears on screens of different widths, while still supporting readable formatted source HTML. The regular view of a rule table on the LifeWiki gets all messed up for somewhat the same reason.

To avoid the problem, just paste in some kind of Unicode space character instead of a regular space. I've edited in em spaces above as an example.

AbhpzTa, I've always wondered, what script do you use to find some of your syntheses and strung-together-puffer spaceships? I've seen some remarkably surprising syntheses stemming from weird still life seeds that I can only imagine as coming from the output of some script!!

Only copying/cutting/pasting... etc.
Anyway, I've never used any script for searching yet.
