You can also try, oddly enough, a less capable inserter. The simplest H-to-G edge shooter has no clearance at all, but the insertion spark is less obtrusive and gets out of the way a little faster. Here's a sample spacing that works for the old H-to-G#1 but not for the Fx119-based high-clearance inserter:

Not sure that will solve all the problems here -- p160 is getting pretty tight, and in fact I see now that H-to-G#1 and H-to-G#3 are already used in the workaround pattern. If the dividing line between left-side and right-side insertion is chosen carefully, it's often possible to find an inserter combination that works. (I should have thought of this before, but it's all starting to come back now.)
EDIT: For anyone who needs a quick reference -- H-to-G#17 is another commonly-used inserter, but unfortunately it has a small double spark behind the insertion point that makes it not quite optimal. H-to-G#11 is very good for merging gliders onto a single lane, but there's a hard-to-suppress extra output glider that crosses the insertion lane. So as far as building complex glider salvos, it's mostly only good for emergencies when nothing else works. Once you're generating an extra suppression glider for H-to-G#11, you might as well start using regular kickbacks and so forth...
