Life_delta_S4c_v1

Post by confocaloid »

This thread is for patterns that work in B3/S23 and in B3/S234c and do something in two different ways. (This is in contrast with lots of patterns that evolve in exactly the same way in both rules.) Feel free to post your discoveries; the ruletree is here: Rule:Life_delta_S4c_v1

A 4G collision that makes a block, but the position of the block depends on the rule:

Code: Select all

x = 37, y = 36, rule = Life_delta_S4c_v1
35.A$34.A$34.3A7$35.A$34.A$34.3A21$.A$2.A14.A.A$3A14.2A$18.A!
A 3G collision that makes a beehive, but the position of the beehive depends on the rule:

Code: Select all

x = 43, y = 27, rule = Life_delta_S4c_v1
41.A$40.A$40.3A21$.A$2.A14.A.A$3A14.2A$18.A!
A 3G collision that vanishes in two different ways:

Code: Select all

x = 37, y = 27, rule = Life_delta_S4c_v1
35.A$34.A$34.3A21$.A$2.A14.A.A$3A14.2A$18.A!
These examples of rule-dependent behaviour were found by hand; I did not attempt an exhaustive enumeration of any kind.

Gabriel's p138 works in B3/S234c as well, but a temporary tub is created and destroyed:

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 15, rule = Life_delta_S4c_v1
7.3A$6.A2.A$7.A3.A$2.A5.3A$3.A5.A$2A.2A$A2.A9.A$A.A9.A.A$.A9.A2.A$10.
2A.2A$5.A5.A$4.3A5.A$3.A3.A$5.A2.A$5.3A!
(Edited several hours later)
Out of 77 results I got using synthesise-constellation-v1.0.py for the pulsar, only one does not make a pulsar in both rules:

Code: Select all

x = 48, y = 36, rule = Life_delta_S4c_v1
2.A$A.A$.2A13$26.A$27.A$25.3A5$25.2A$26.2A$25.A11$47.A!

Out of 174 results for the pulsar found using synth-const-4G-Python3.py, 7 collisions make something else in B3/S234c:

Code: Select all

x = 320, y = 54, rule = Life_delta_S4c_v1
22.A$20.2A$21.2A4$294.A$295.A$293.3A7$246.A$113.A.A128.A.A61.A$113.2A

Maybe I'll try the same for several other common objects to see how many of the collisions are rule-dependent.

(Appended later:)
All 27 results for eater 1 make eater 1 in the same position in B3/S234c (and in fact all 27 are S4c-independent, so no differences at all e.g. temporary dying sparks).

Out of 29 results for the mango, 3 collisions make something else in B3/S234c:

After looking through 423 results found using synth-const-4G-Python3.py for the long boat, I think 30 collisions result in a different ash in B3/S234c. Here are 25 of these 30:

After looking through 1171 results found using synth-const-4G-Python3.py for the ship, I think 29 collisions result in a different ash in B3/S234c:

Collisions with temporary difference in evolution are not included unless there is a difference in the ash. It is possible that I missed some collisions; for example, I almost missed the rightmost collision in the first row where the difference in ash is only one cell.

Unlikely events happen.
My silence does not imply agreement, nor indifference. If I disagreed with something in the past, then please do not construe my silence as something that could change that.

I think it would be more interesting, not less, if they form the same thing in a different way.

Currently these are most frequent objects in b3s234c/C1:

The above posts are for the pulsar, eater 1 (xs7_178c), mango (xs8_69ic), long barge (xs8_25ak8), half-bakery (xs14_g88m952z121), barge (xs6_25a4), beacon (xp2_318c), ship-tie (xs12_g8o653z11), toad (xp2_7e), long boat (xs7_25ac), ship (xs6_356). For more common objects, it becomes less reasonable to do the work by hand. Probably it is more practical to redo this by a script.

Edit 1: MWSS+4G to make two different gliders:

Code: Select all

x = 58, y = 60, rule = Life_delta_S4c_v1
