Unrelated, I feel that C4 symmetric objects tend to use more gliders to synthesize. Here is a 28G synthesis for a 26-bit p2:

Meanwhile, read the following article on this pi day:

EDIT: this is a sketch for a soup-based synthesis for xs16_0o8bbgzc8421 that looks suboptimal.

Code: Select all

x = 30, y = 29, rule = B3/S23

Another simple startup turns out to be messy:

60bobo$60bo2$53b2o$52bobo$54bo!
This one would have been easy if octohash/synthesise-patt.py knows how to make the region.

Code: Select all

8b3o$9bo8b2o$b2o6bo8bobo$b2o5bobo8bo$7b2ob2o$8bobo$9bo2$3o!
This one is a bit more expensive than I hoped. The honeyfarm hits the loaf in an unusual way, and so it has no results in octohash.

Code: Select all

x = 23, y = 22, rule = B3/S23
20bobo$20b2o$2bo18bo$obo$b2o4$7b2o$6bo2bo$6bobo$7bo$12bo$b2o9bobo$bobo

1-glider seed for xs16_178c9jzx65 that is also not cheap:

Code: Select all

x = 14, y = 19, rule = B3/S23

Please don't tell me or others what to do. You are becoming a domineering complainer which is made worse by your lack of knowledge and ability.

Not to mention it’s not your first time to do these things as well, so I guess we’ll end the argument right here

Edit: also, why don’t you just convert your patterns to make it lifeviewer friendly?

Also, "lack of knowledge and ability" is very rude, I'll have to say

Uh, isn't that a tu quoque? You might be right, but you can't prove it with that particular argument.

Same here, but this is an ad hominem instead of a tu quoque.

Brian Prentice
wait, both are actually bugged. But why would you really need that anyways? you can still rotate 180 degrees and flip sides.

I've given you the step code:

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5600#p143010

Why don't you show us all how to do it by doing it yourself.

In the Hexagonal Rules thread you wrote:

Again show us how by providing a working ruletable.

I mean, I don’t really have time to do the ruletable. And I don’t really understand your program so there’s no way you can do it. You can simply just do a rule table that is hexagonal; or if this doesn’t actually work for you just do Moore meighbourhood with symmetries:none

(Or if you are still going to argue with me that lifeviewer and golly isn't as good as your program, I will just write a random multistate rule here')

Edit: state one simulates B2/S0123456H and state two simulates B2o/S0123456H. If you or anyone else doesn't understand the hex notations, b2o means b2 ortho, which basically is b2a in moore.

I have never argued that my programs are better than LifevVewer and Golly. I think that both LifeViewer and Golly are excellent programs.

I don't believe that I have argued with you about anything.

Saying that you lack knowledge and ability is not rude, it is simply a fact. It does not mean that you know nothing or can't do anything. It simply means that there are certain subjects that you know little about, are unable to work with and don't have the knowledge to make accurate statements about.

Consider now my post:

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5600#p142975

I was simply posting some patterns to an appropriate thread. I also provided a means to run them knowing that they could not be run on Golly or LifeViewer.

Now consider your response:

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5600#p142981

You assumed, incorrectly, that I was advertising Hexagonal Cell. You then went on to imply that Golly and LifeViewer are capable hexagonal simulators and could run my hexagonal Mites rule. All of this while having no knowledge about my rule.

So I replied appropriately.

i don't need any knowledge on your rule to know if the standard programs can run your rule, because it is range one, or your post will be off-topic. I do have seen stuffs like these
Some of the newer members of this forum may not be aware of this program. You can read about it here:
I won't be posting the link here but if you really want to argue with me that I made this up, then you might want to search. It's is not your other program and I mean this is not that rare. Also I would like to end this argument as soon as I started posting in the sandbox, which is a very usual thing I do.

end the argument

(also by the way, saying you are idiot also works if you say it can apply to something that you really don't know, whichI believe is very rude if I do so. Other CA programs isn't really necessary it's like speaking say French in this forums, while there's translators for that there's none for CA programs yet.)

This spaceship is comprised of a mutually stabilizing frontend and backend. I found it in rlifesrc.

It's okay to post stuff you find. Suboptimal spaceships can still be posted as part of larger posts, and could have uses that optimized spaceships don't such as being symmetrical or having a useful spark.

That rule has an insane amount of c/2o due to small front ends , so it is the same thing like posting a random still life in patterns.

The post yujh quoted was on the OCA board, so there's a certain amount of justification for the complaint.

That said, @yujh, speaking for myself and not so much as a moderator who might Do Something Official -- I'd appreciate it if you'd take a break from policing other users' behavior for a while. If someone is posting things that aren't quite right, let somebody else point it out and/or fix it.

Some of your efforts along these lines have contributed to the most unpleasant exchanges on the forums this year, like the one a few posts up in this thread that ended on March 18th. The forums will get along fine if someone occasionally posts something in the wrong place; if the problem becomes significant, it will get addressed.
