No, they alternate between gluders and anti-gliders.

technically, since this is an unorthodox rule (defined as a rule in which no periodic object in it can be offset forward or backward any number of steps without its evolution changing relative to the subrule it was moved to) this could also be considered a true period c/2o too.
though i doubt anyone in this thread would particularly care.
contact me if ya want help in designing any sort of really weird uncommon types of rules that most people don't like/work with, I'd love to help.

Life viewer cannot run wolfram rules higher than 254, but in rule 420 you'll see gliders.
Code: Select all

I recently ran into a LifeWiki talk page comment on the Glider page, written by myself.
The glider also works in B013568/S01, but in this rule it is a C/2 orthogonal spaceship instead. Evolve the Z-pentomino, the only pentomino to grow infinitely to see for yourself. Some of the gliders will be pulling tagalongs, like a duoplet. -wwei23 1:06 PM 9/23/2015 NY time
What I was describing was a counterfeit glider.
Code: Select all
# You can save the pattern into this box with Settings/Pattern/Save or Ctrl-S.
x = 2, y = 3, rule = B013568/S01
o$bo$bo!

[[ STOP 1 ]]
EDIT: Added LifeViewer commands to deal with phase issues.

All oscillators and spaceships without B2a that are alpha-gliders (bo$2bo$3o!) and have period at most 4.
Summary of results:
1 still life
36 p2 oscillators
3 c/2o spaceships, all of which travel south
125 p3 oscillators
84 c/3o spaceships, of which 23 travel east, 21 travel west, 33 travel south, and 7 travel north
1171 p4 oscillators
999 c/4o spaceships, of which 310 travel east, 101 travel west, 468 travel south, and 120 travel north
68 2c/4o spaceships, all of which travel south
366 c/4d spaceships, of which 140 travel southeast, 79 travel southwest, 16 travel northwest, and 131 travel northeast
The standard glider appears as the 1018th entry in this list.

All oscillators and spaceships without B2a that are beta-gliders (o$b2o$2o!) and have period at most 4.
Summary of results:
1 still life
25 p2 oscillators
2 c/2o spaceships, both of which travel west
100 p3 oscillators
42 c/3o spaceships, of which 4 travel east, 24 travel west, 7 travel south, and 7 travel north
967 p4 oscillators
1051 c/4o spaceships, of which 159 travel east, 468 travel west, 277 travel south, and 147 travel north
110 2c/4o spaceships, all of which travel west
319 c/4d spaceships, of which 185 travel southeast, 92 travel southwest, 30 travel northwest, and 12 travel northeast
The standard glider appears as the 6th entry in this list.

This last post concerns counterfeit alpha- and beta-gliders in B2a rules, which always travel at the speed of light.
For alpha-gliders, there are 4 p2 and 42 p3 photons. For beta-gliders, there are 3 p2 and 13 p3 photons.
