So another dust grain becomes the seed for another planet. It's probably best to label out some kind of disk and mark out the position of the first dust grain.
I think this is mostly irrelevant, but let's forget that for now. What do you plan on doing after creating the planet?

Allow plate tectonics and evolution to do their things.

Ok, but BokaBB wants to have humans. Do you plan on figuring out evolution throughout the eons?
Edit: My point is evolving humans (or anything humanoid) is highly unlikely.

I guess I can copy the final stages of our evolution. :P

You would need to copy everything exactly IMO. If you want to copy the final stages I guess you can say that around 5 million years ago the common ancestor of chimpanzees and humans spontaneously appeared (just forget that it doesn't make any sense). We're already doing evolution on the alien biosphere thread. If you want to be more scientifically accurate you can help us there. Unfortunately we're still stuck on unicellular life.

Human evolution is the easiest thing of all. The big brains to solve problems and ease our life, two eys and ears to allow the best perception of the world, bipedalism frees hands which allow you to grab things, these all are the things we need for a species to be ultra-sucessful and to create civilisations.
We shall skip anything before the invention of agriculture as this world shall be a very Earth-like simulation as I originally indeed intended it to be. Just like another, very similar Earth. The only reason why this is not happening on Earth is to allow us to create everything and all the civilisations without the limits of the modern world.
I highly believe I am true.

I'm totally fine with skipping everything before agriculture (maybe we could do something like a stone age), but I don't necessarily like your argument. There is not really any reason for intelligent life to look like us. We might as well have had six legs and now use four for walking and two for handling stuff (centaurism). Our eyes and ears are nowhere near perfect either. Vertebrate eyes have a blind spot, whereas cephalopod eyes don't. Dogs can hear much higher pitched noises than we, vice versa for elephants. Big brains would without a doubt be necessary though. Human evolution is nowhere near easy.

Which planet are we going to have form first?
EDIT: Let's go back a step, to the forming protostar. Is it single, binary, or in a 3+ star system?

I say we follow BokaBB and make a single sun. Our alien planet has two suns though.

Alright. How massive is it, and what is its metallicity?

How would metallicity even matter? If we're going to create a world with civilizations, we can either just omit these details or create them when the inhabitants are technologically advanced enough to discover them. As for mass, let's just try and keep everything as close as possible to Earth's (unless you can think of stuff that could be potentially interesting like increased seasonal variation).

If a star has low metallicity, then chances are that its cloud was almost only hydrogen and helium, and there will likely only be gas planets. Higher metallicities probably mean that there was a higher concentration of heavier elements, allowing rocky planets to form that much more easily. Wikipedia says that it also slightly increases heat, and can interact with outgoing photons, and I'm guessing that low-metallicity stars would be unable to use the CNO cycle as much as high-metallicity stars. So yes, metallicity matters.

I vote skip everything before agriculture/stone age (we can vote on that distinction later). Instead of evolution, I say we design the flora and fauna. I highly believe that having something different than Earth's would be better. For example, The Refugium's fauna is based on prehistoric animals. Instead of animals like cats, dogs, sharks, crocodiles, insects, there are creodonts, mesonychids, placoderms, and trilobites (look them all up). There are also completely non-existent animals like flying spiders, flightless bats, and whale-sized seals. For our world, I say we have temnospondyls like Prionosuchus and Koolasuchus (they are so criminally underrated). We could also have radiodonts, which are a group of equally incredible marine stem-arthropods. I would like to have some non-existent animals too, but their existence must be at least plausible. Preferably they should be in some already existent group of animals. As for the flora, I'm thinking we could have scale trees and maybe towering fungi/lichens like Prototaxites. I'm eager to hear what you think.

I am quite fine with non-existent or extinct animals, plants and fungi, but I want to still have some extant ones.
I believe that centaurism would naturally lead to what I like to call hindugodism (most Hindu gods have 4 hands). What do you think?
I would like to play Clobber with you but I played last. Can you play it with me, please?
Of everything you mentioned I only knew about trilobites so far. Or at least under those names.

Did you look up any of the animals I mentioned? If we're going to have temnospondyls, we should put them in cooler areas, and crocodile(-like reptiles) in warmer ones. Also, what kind of extant animals would you like? As for centaurism/hindugodism, we can proably have some sort of insect (or group of insects) that walks on four or two legs and use the others like hands. The former sounds more likely.

I can play Clobber today if you want.

I want indeed.
I looked at them all.
Some my suggestions:
I think we should have some a little more modern animals since yours are a bit too ancient but are fine.
I think elephants or some their relatives would fit pretty well in our world.
Some predatory flying mammals would also be interesting, probably originating from bats or something like them. They maybe could even be domesticated by our humans (or whatever intelligent and sapient species we make)!
Also,a question:in Serbia we literally call bats ,,blind mice". Are they really blind?I know they have sonar but I am not fully certain if they really cannot see.
I also think we should have a big variety of underwater plants and some big subterranean animals since there are no big examples in reality.
I would also enjoy having something really fast-growing like bamboo or eucalyptus.
Other extant species I like are lions, some kind of whales and/or dolphins, prairie dogs, ducks, ibises and maybe also rabbits. I also heard that there existed giant rabbits on the island of Menorca if I correctly remember. They would be interesting!
You made me interested in paleontology much more now!

Yes, that sounds good. Maybe we can have platybelodons or gomphotheres.

I'm okay with predatory flying animals (maybe we could have pterosaurs), but I don't really like the idea of our sapient species using them. It sounds too dragon/fantasy like.

No, certainly not. They usually rely on sound, but they can also see, sometimes really well. Read this. Also, bat in French is chauve souris (lit. bald mouse).
BokaBB wrote: March 7th, 2021, 8:08 am I also think we should have a big variety of underwater plants and some big subterranean animals since there are no big examples in reality.
Kelp is actually surprisingly recent evolutionarily (20mya). We can possibly have something like that.
Edit: As for subterranean animals, we would have to have a reason for them to exist. Moles eat worms, but worms alone wouldn't nearly be enough for a giant one.

I think that there is a delay after sending a message and that I get the notification and see it a little after you are no more writing it (I can see that in WHO IS ONLINE).
Pterosaususes sound interesting but I would also like to see some mammals flying alongside them and to be a little bigger than our bats. They do not have nesecarrily to be predatory, however. Some of pterosaususes could also primarily eat fish.
I wish there to be something big and herbivory other than dinosauruses or something modern. Ideas?

There is an inherent size limit for mammals because of how long they can hold their babies. Paraceratherium is thought to be the largest land mammal possible. Whales can get bigger because the water supports their weight.

We then would need a wider variety of underground animals. Also, they probably should be smaller than I initially wanted. 1-2 m sounds good. Their burrows must be very deep to allow them to live well and they should probably go to the surface sometimes.
You asked me the nearly same question about my flying mammals twice.
I have no idea. Give me some ideas how they could evolve. Also, when I said ,,a little bigger",I thought of any bigger size than that of bats.
The big herbivores do not nesecarrily have to be mammals.
What cold-areas animals we should have?

Again, mostly irrelevant. I don't think the formation of our solar system has much effect on us much. I think I once heard that the Mars sized object that crashed into Earth that created out moon might have created the North American plate, but I think it's still mostly unimportant. As for plate tectonics, we can I guess maybe simulate it for ~100 million years, but not much more than that. We can use GPlates to do that. What do you think of the flora and fauna?
