A bunch of words that should make rare combinations and sounds not that rare.
I don't think it's a good idea to introduce more unusual clusters.
BokaBB wrote: November 7th, 2020, 3:58 pm
Gestal - hill
I don't think it's a good idea to use the same prefix for "negation of" and "weaker version of". I propose <be-> for "weaker version of".
BokaBB wrote: November 7th, 2020, 3:58 pm
(I feel like pv must have sound other than /pv/,I am open for change there)
My translation script converts that to /p/, but /pw/ would also be compatible with my phonotactics.
BokaBB wrote: November 7th, 2020, 3:58 pm
fluffykitty, please don't speak like ,,We can overrule you.".I
don't like that.
You can't always get what you want.
Accepted. Bestal is hill now.
I think the unusual clusters and sounds have well adapted to the words.
Is there any sound that sounds like p + v? We can keep /pv/ if not,I don't want /w/ to be in Komal.
Thanks for not being offensive.
I will change derwo to dervo.
Can you please add the words that are in the Swadesh207 list to it?

Those are already used for stuff like "this book". Reusing them for "here"/"there" should still work if we're careful though.
Okay.
Ru- is for sale, invent its meaning quickly.

If we make vocabulary we should focus on simpler words, not words like "forum". Please look at my post above.

Edit (1:42): I looked at the "Komal only forum" and it appears that you've used a bunch of features not listed on the sheet (<belsan> for "(forum) thread", generic <shyu>, the word <alg>, <lisko ba> which probably should have been <lisko da>, <nel> as a relative pronoun). I'd complain about that on that thread but apparently we don't have a word for "word", among other things. I propose <rumal> "word", using <ru-> "piece of". We could also derive <runap> "thing" from <nap> "world". We should also have words like <saneo> "to be able to", <derneo> "to want", and <igeo> "to have to".

You don't need to post it twice.

Added words posted in this thread, and the backformation <turad> "lock".
Schiaparelliorbust wrote: November 7th, 2020, 1:36 pm
Then I don't think begeo should be to be strong. Just use akeo.
Many languages use constructions like that for sentences like "You are green".
How is <turad> lock if turadeo is to open? And what do you mean by many languages use constructions like that? Do you mean they have verbs for being without using <to be>? I understand that if there isn't a standalone word to <to be>, but otherwise not so much. I guess I can accept this for this language though.

<turade> is key. What's a key a tool for?

Languages have verbs for things like "to be green" and stuff. I imagine they also have "to be", but don't use it for things covered by other stative verbs. I imagine that both stative verbs and <akeo> will be used in this language with similar meanings.

Well a key can be used for locking but I think its primary purpose is opening. In Azerbaijani, which is a dialect of Turkish, key is "açkı" and "açmak" (-mak just makes it infinitive) is to open. Turkey Turkish doesn't use that word, we use "anahtar", which is a Greek word, which still comes from "aniχtēri"(ανοιχτήρι)(I don't speak Greek) which when I put put into Google translate says "opener".
fluffykitty wrote: November 9th, 2020, 2:27 am
Yeah, it's probably a better idea to have a separate root for "lock"/"to close". Also, have you seen the "Komal - dag belsan" thread?
Yes, I have, though I don't think I can understand it too well. We haven't even gotten some very basic things done yet. How are we now writing in this language? Could you please look at the chemical CA too?
fluffykitty wrote: November 9th, 2020, 2:37 am
Done. Nothing much to respond to there.
Do we have a suffix to make an adjective a verb? If not, I think we should, also vice versa. Like lock could be "to make closed/locked". There is also a country CA where BokaBB and I can't seem to agree on anything. Could you look there too? Sorry if I sound like I'm demanding stuff from you.

I'm pretty sure we use <-eo> for that as well, although that usually means "to be x", not "to make x". However, we could distinguish the two meanings by transitivity.

<goneo> for "to vomit" exists, <gebeg> can be "disease", and "diarrhea" would probably just be "wet poop" if we had words for either of those.
I think diarrhoea should have its own word. Also, the word poop has now been used twice in two posts two days in a row (not including this post) on the forums!
Schiaparelliorbust wrote: November 8th, 2020, 4:14 pm
Coprophagy is the eating of poop. The pellets that rabbits eat is exactly that. There is undigested material in rabbit poop so they eat it twice, like cows chewing their cud.

There haven't been any posts here for quite a while. What's up with that?
Might be my last post. Sorry.
Edit: This post was unrespondable to, so I'm going to ask, can we please not do anything until we agree on phonology? I'm ready to compromise, but others must too. I can't accept everything else someone wants.
