I read Wikipedia to know the sounds.
I am the founder of this and have rights to incorporate some parts of my ideas even if they are a minority view.
I already said how everything should be read when I said that everything will be phonetical.
Now phonotactics.

You do not have the right to ban anyone. If you don't like these ideas, I could create an offshoot of this thread (but I will not obstinate like you).
Agree. This is a collaborative language; BokaBB does not have the right to get what they want if most others disagree.

Please vote on the sounds we talked about. Read the last page or two to know what to vote for.

Ok, I will try to do it by the end of the day. Is there any way to make versions for each of us that everyone can edit by themselves? That way we can all have our ideas and suggestions.

We can use the notebook.
Can we use my orthography in writing on paper, with the exception that the thing about other J is oriented to the bottom and not up?We can use simplified orthography here.
Someone, please study the Vietnamese phonology and alphabet, that language has lots of weird letters in one keyboard. We may use some.

What j are you talking about? Also, I spent a few minutes trying to pronounce /æ/, /a/, /ä/, and /ɐ/, I think I can pronounce them well. The first two and the latter two sound similar, I think we should all try to pronounce them to see whether we can even hear the difference between them, not only pronounce them. I just want everyone to agree on what sound we are talking about. If we can't hear the difference or don't think it matters too much, we can reach an agreement quicker. What specifically about Vietnamese phonology is interesting?

It is the alphabet that is interesting since it appears to have many weird letters in one keyboard. Please see if it has sounds that we use here,we may use some letters. If something is missing, just good old digraphs.
The thing above Ĵ should be oriented to the bottom when writing on paper.

BokaBB. The principle of emergence is a powerful one, let it guide you. Let the language grow, not necessarily in the exact way that any one person wants it to do so. This rule has two oblique ships, but neither were found by design, and both were found by emergence.

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 17, rule = B3-ceky4enrt5cjkn6aei7c/S2-kn3-eiy4aitw5an7e

I think it has too many diacritics for this language. Diacritics could also be hard to type, as I said before, though I do remember your suggestion for typing on phones. I will look at the sounds tomorrow.

I still want e to be /ɛ/ and ee be /e/, not the reverse.

My thoughts on this ee vs. e thing is that e going to /e/ might be more intuitive, because e would then basically go to itself.

I agree with Hunting, picking symbols for sounds just based on appearance is a bad idea. I have changed my mind on i though, I agree with BokaBB on it being /i/.
Edit: I am filling the vocabulary part of the spreadsheet, but I am omitting words that (to me) sound wrong.
Edit: I think we need to rethink our vocabulary. The words just sound too short and simple. I know BokaBB said that root words should be one syllable, but no language that I know of is like that. Source:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monosyllabic_language

I think we are going to need a compomise for the sound of a.
Can it be /a/ at the beginning or at the end of the word or if it borders other vowels and the other a sound in the rest of cases?
I leave to you the compromise for e sound.
Are you hardcore and harsh?I invite you to participate in the game An Extremely Unfunny Game!

I was thinking it could be /a/ before non-plosive consonants. It should definitely be /ɐ/ in diphthongs though.
