After being surprised by no dedicated Life Without Death thread, I decided to start one.
Here is my contribution, the smallest possible infinite growth pattern in this rule:
Code: Select all
x = 2, y = 3, rule = B3/S012345678
2o$bo$bo!
EDIT:
After running it for 10000 generations, it grew from 4 cells to 10369062 cells, and seemed to have quadratic growth.

...Apparently not. 3-cell infinite growth:
Code: Select all
x = 2, y = 3, rule = B3/S012345678
2o2$o!
- it stabilizes into linear growth though.

and these

Each day is a hidden opportunity, a frozen waterfall that's waiting to be realised, and one that I'll probably be ignoring

We should settle down on the middle one, which have MCPS=3.

I screwed up. I only tested polyominos. Well, that shares the record for smallest
polyomino with this:
Code: Select all
x = 30, y = 12, rule = B3/S012345678
28b2o$28bo$28bo7$o$2o$o!
EDIT: the second one(the T-tetromino) stabilizes into linear growth, and has 477330 cells alive at the end. The T-tetromino grows ~20 times as slow as the tail.

How can you even apgsearch it???????
Otherwise this hread is really useless.
(Have you read my pm?)

You can't apgsearch this rule... It's explosive... Or is this a fake and you found it by hand, or did you call every search program "apgsearch"?

Not really. I'm sure a Life Without Death Rule 110 Unit Cell™ (WIP) will impress everyone.
