Zibra Stripes to pattern conversion
I've done very little with the game of life, so I don't know what interests you all, but I thought this pattern was interesting. I doubt if I found it first. Sometimes it occurs spontaneously when the edge of zibra stripes destabilize by a glider hit on a zebra stripe still life. Perhaps you Pros ...

Re: P3+ Oscillator Puffers
I am a newbe, but here is one that maybe someone can clean up for a nice little different kind of pulsar puffer. It runs a while then starts laying down permanent pulsars along with the rest of the smoke. I don't have enough experience to know if this is any contribution so excuse me if it is not ...

Re: Rule Tables + Weighted Life + Larger than Life
My understanding at this point is that the change to larger neighborhoods in golly would be easy at the source level. I do not have any specifics, only a hint from the writings of one of the authors of golly.
I'm pretty busy for a few weeks, but I think I will look into it some more.

Re: Rule Tables + Weighted Life + Larger than Life
I am guessing that Larger than Life patterns tend to die more quickly because there are so many cells in the neighborhood. There are 9 cells involved with Life while adding the next row brings it up to 25 cells. More interesting to me would be to have larger diameter neighborhoods, but only select ...

Re: Golly rules - alternate games - please help!
Ok, I checked out MCell, and Larger than Life. Still no joy. I looked over the various rules and most of them assume 0-8 and those that consider larger neighborhoods, consider them inclusively . That doesn't do it for me.

Also, you may want to check out this: http://code.google.com/p/ruletablerepository/wiki/TheFormat
Thanks, I'd skimmed the page before, but took a closer look and found a link to the neighborhood Roadmap, and then I finally discovered what I was after way at the bottom of the page:

Re: Golly rules - alternate games - please help!
That's not really how the golly rule table system works. You should look into it; it is intimidating at first, but really incredibly simple.
Gee, thanks for the great example, I'll put it into golly and run it...chuckle
How about an incredibly simple example using a cell beyond 0-8?

Golly rules - alternate games - please help!
Being naturally lazy, I don't really want to have to figure out any of these specification languages, so could someone reply with a template specification that I only have to fill in the S, B, & neighborhood data? Any specification scheme is fine with me as long as I can understand how to do the S ...
