Winlife32 doens't work on Vista it seems. It installs fine and I can open the program fine, but I can't mouse click on cells to make my own patterns. That's too bad, too, because it looks like exactly what I was looking for.

I apologize if this has already been done and I don't know about it yet, the foremost two changes that I think you should make is to reset to your original pattern, and to make it so the 'generations' count stops (or records, somewhere) once the cell count stops.
