The script is able to produce predecessors for omniships with population 94720. I think it's quite an achievement to have the population below 10^5! The omniships themselves have higher minimum population since there's usually a blinker puffer active which adds signficantly to the population ...

It looks like an issue with an older Python version. I use Python 3.14 -- in older versions (3.11 and earlier), you couldn't re-use quotes inside of the brackets of an f'string'. I recommend using `uv` to run the Python code -- it will automatically install the dependencies and Python version when ...

It looks to me that this design should be adjustable to all non-orthogonal sub speed limit velocities. Possibly there are some close-to-diagonal velocities which can not be adjusted to due to issues with the trigger signals overlapping. I have not investigated the details of that.
