Here's my first attempt to make a smaller printer using the three glider recipe. It is not that good, I can do better. But in any case, it is about two thirds the size of the first version using the original readable boat recipe.

Re: Smaller Pi Calculator Challenge
All of these suggestions are excellent! One that I have some interest in is this one:
For some more unusual candidates, how about half-blockade? It can perfectly well be created in 2+1G fitting in 16x16 (barely):
x = 71, y = 93, rule = B3/S23

Re: Smaller Pi Calculator Challenge
Wow. That's quite an improvement!
Your welcome! :)
The modernized B2D unit still uses the same bit-reading recipe as the original, doesn't it? I didn't check glider-for-glider, but it seems to me I recognize the honeyfarm start and the careful jockeying to get a block around to the other ...

Re: Smaller Pi Calculator Challenge
As for the B2D unit, I'd also like to see it modernised, but that is way beyond my abilities.
Earlier today I finished a modernized B2D unit that I began working on not long after the new scripts were posted here. Here it is:

Re: Speed demonoid gun
I didn't check the period, but the glider loops are advertised as being p67108864, which is 2^26 -- that's perfectly Hashlife-friendly.
I'm very sorry, the gun is pretty much hashlife friendly! I can run it at a step of 8^6 generations, although it problematic at higher speeds. One reason why I ...

Speed demonoid gun
Earlier today (July 17 if in doubt), I finished this gun which outputs c/11 speed demonoids!
Unfortunately, the gun is not hashlife friendly, and it is more of a prototype. For one thing, you could make the design simpler if you had a more suitable synthesis for the body. It should also be ...

Re: Introductions
Hello, I call myself enofet. I have been fascinated with cellular automata for the past ~10 years now. I also love mathematics and nature. I have made several patterns which I will post to this site soon.
