Re: Thread for your script-related questions

Why does this script seem to have bugs when in the rule B2cn3ay4aijrt5-eiqy6a78/S12ei3ejnry4aijr5iy6ik7c8? For example there is a line which says

108 c/23993

but when I run the pattern it does not seem to output a c/23993 spaceship at all:

After some by-hand rulegolfing and qfind checking, I found a rule with mealworms where the inside seems to be two cells thick.

Can anyone find a similar rule with odd-period and even-period worms?

Out of rules that have an inverse XOR replicator, I think these rules would be prone to having a lot of NRSS:

I did a qfind search on this rule:

In Conway's Game of Life, each cell has 8 neighbors, but what if they had 4 on each side? Then you get "Static Life" which I've named. https://ncase.me/sim/?lz ...

Re: A 'life-emerging' INT rule?

It's probably better to use one of the smaller patterns in the top row. We should EPE each one of those up to p3 and systematically figure out which ones are the best.

Done:

2o2$o!.txt

bo$obo!.txt

How are we then supposed to "systematically figure out which ones are the best"?

Re: Cole's sandbox

My interesting rule searcher is finding both simple and interesting rules. By setting the density of conditions (or transitions) to be as low as possible, one can easily find simple rules which are interesting.

Take for example, when I set the coefficient to 1/24, this rule:

Time to revive this thread.

I changed the condition probability of my rule generator to be 1/6 and the first rule it spat out was this very cute rule. Perhaps it should be called Dominoland due to the fact that many objects are made out of dominoes?

Unfortunately it means that we won't get discoveries from the only one who knows how to make weighted LTL rules.

I also can wield weighted LTL rules, and in some sense I am extending the work confocaloid has done by exploring a single neighbourhood in detail rather than inventing rules to solve ...

Has anyone explored the diverse oscillators possible in the VN and LE neighbourhoods? These have very small neighbourhoods (the former, 4 cells and the latter, 3 cells) and despite there being zero non-B0 rules that have spaceships in them I believe that it would benefit to classify these oscillators.
