This and the (7,1)c/8 look so...different from other relativistic oblique spaceships. What was the search methodology used to find it?

I found some p1 orthogonal backends and then thought about extending the concept to obliques. May13's OT (2,1)c/3s were ...

Re: amling search program principles discussion / brain dump

I am tickled enough by the problem ("find any (7, 1)c/8" and perhaps "in this rule") that I might be interested in taking a look myself. If you are okay with that (and the risk of getting partly scooped), please let me know, unambiguously, and I shall try to restrain myself otherwise.

This (7,1)c/8 puffer only produces 2 dots each cycle, and is self corderizing. If anyone can find a corderization in this or a related rule we would have the first (7,1)c/8 in INT

I don't mean to be the party pooper here, but I would like to ask @mods to lock/delete this thread. We all need to work on tidying up the nomination list so we can best show off the wonderful discoveries our community found in 2025. Currently there is a few big errors, and there is a lot of polish ...

There are 2 big errors:

The nomination list is still missing #9.

I finally managed to crack the last 4 periods under p500. The lowest unknown period is 515. There are also now over 1000 different 2 cell periods (1024). Updated 2 cell oscillator database. There are 78 new periods, the lowest unknown period has gone from p169 to p203, and the highest period has gone from p410 to a whopping p2271. This all comes from a bunch of 5xn mealworm oscillators

Their speeds are:
