Has anyone done research on this kind of grid before? where the octagon and the squares can have same or different rules.

The coding is still in progress and currently only 12 converters are documented ...

Is there a Golly script(or something else) that can put multi-staged glider synthesis together into one big single-staged one?

This is the beta version of an ash analyzing program I have been working on recently. It takes in ashes and cleans it of common objects, leaving more interesting ones behind. It also documents some basic data of the soup and the amount of objects it cleaned away.
